Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Wednesday might be a fun night for hockey fans..

I'd look for the Wild/Avs to maybe be a bit earlier than normal, and the Kings/Sharks to be late. 8 EST and 11 EST?

I'm seriously going to ask for Thu off. All the hockey, dammit.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

they won't start one of them at 11.

1030 latest

Rangers/Flyers would be at 6 EST and would be the target audience out East. My guess is they want as little overlap as possible being Game 7, so I don't know.

So the way this series is going Avs win in OT after the Wild blow a 3rd period lead.

69.6 Rebounds and Loose Pucks - In a rebound situation, or where a goalkeeper and attacking player(s) are simultaneously attempting to play a loose puck, whether inside or outside the crease, incidental contact with the goalkeeper will be permitted, and any goal that is scored as a result thereof will be allowed.
In the event that a goalkeeper has been pushed into the net together with the puck by an attacking player after making a stop, the goal will be disallowed.

bronconick, looked to me like the ref simply should have blown the play dead to begin with. i never saw an angle showing the puck was loose. it looked like stalock had it unless i missed a particular angle.

This video has a couple of good angles that I don't remember seeing during the broadcast I was watching (from about 6:25-6:40 in the video). It looks pretty clear to me that the correct call was made. There's a fraction of second where it's not clear where the puck is, but after that it emerges next to Stalock's skate.

edit: I'm leaving out the issue of whether it was legal to get the puck across the line by pushing Stalock...that I'm not sure of.

It would be at 7, not 6. And given the Rangers' knack for making playoff series more difficult than they need to be, I feel like it's a safe assumption that there will be a Game 7.
The fan kinda looks like jmh. /noinsult
Definitely similar skin tone and hair color, and I guess I even see a bit of resemblance in facial features, though I'm a bit slimmer than that guy if I may say so.

Also, I'd never wear such an ugly jersey.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

End of the season pressers for Detroit today gave fans this mildly encouraging statement from Holland:

Ken Holland said:
If Anthony Mantha is ready and he beats somebody out, he'll play in the National Hockey League.

A sliver of hope that Kenny might be tweaking his strategy when it comes to the Wings "over-ripe" model of development.

A Shark fan friend of mine sent me an image of the ref with the whistle near his lips. There has been less waved off for "intent to blow," not sure why this wasn't either.

Saw this tweet from the Red Wings today:
@DetroitRedWings: "Is there a (FA) player or trade or two that makes us better? That we'll explore, but a lot has to be the people we bring back." - Holland
Cleary, Quincey, Sammy, and Monster better not be anywhere NEAR the roster this fall.
And Franzen hasn't been himself since the signing of his contract. The last compliance buyout better be used on him.

I don't mind the "over-ripe" (to a point), what bothers me is re-signing the "good ol' boys" like Cleary.

Holland needs to find some solid D to help Jimmy out. Kronwall, Big Rig, DK, and then a big drop off of talent.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

I think the key is getting Weiss fully healthy, especially since Holland also said they don't plan to use their remaining compliance buyout on Franzen, because that tells me they plan to use it on Weiss if they can't shop him. That, plus letting Sammi, Cleary, and Quincey walk would free up about $13.5 mil. Some of that will have to go into re-upping Tatar, Sheahan, and DK, but they should still be left with over $8-9 mil for other needs. Kenny will also need to save money for Nyquist's fat raise very soon.

EDIT: Forgot DK is also RFA, and that Quincey is due to come off the books (he'd better )
