2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

All 4 of them have continued to duck us. Riga did tell me that some HE teams duck them. IE BU, BC and UNH.
BC is playing OOC cupcakes Colorado College, Denver (2), Michigan State, Minnesota and Michigan this season.
Ducking the Beast of the East again.

QU is playing the best Hockey East has to offer... defending champion UMass-Lowell... twice. Why do you want the Hockey East cupcakes?

I've been watching some Salmon Arm games from last season. Landon Smith is a very talented young player.

The USPHL kicked off its season. We have 4 recruits in the U18 division.

Ryan Finnegan 2 GP 1 goal and 9 assists
Alex Whelan 4 GP 3 goals and 1 assist
James Callahan 3 GP 1 assist
Johnny DeRoche 1 GP 2 assists

Finnegan is the leading scorer in the U18 division so far.

BCHL kicked off this weekend. Here are some of the recruits we have to follow there this year.

Scott Davidson (Trail)
Craig Martin (Trail)
Logan Mick (Salmon)
Chase Priskie (Salmon)

Logan Coomes I believe is suppose to be with Coquitlam but he is not on the roster. Chris Heisenberg has him there and so does Elite Prospects. I am trying to find out the deal with him.

One guy I think Quinnipiac should be trying to get in on is Charlie Zuccarini out of Shelton, CT and playing for Trail. He had 5 goals and 1 assist his first game in the league. He is tiny though at 5'7 170 lbs but a local kid.

BCHL Saturday stats for recruits

Craig Martin 1 goal

AJHL Saturday stats for recruits

Nelson Gadoury 2 goals

Any thoughts on the polls? Obviously they mean nothing but I like knowing where other people think we're at. I think people get to caught up in what we lost. 5/6ths of the defense comes back and we keep our goalie. Sounds familiar huh? ;)

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

I'm a little surprised at the coaches putting us 5th. I feel we're still a top-4 team with the talent we're bringing in.

No doubt Colgate will be the team to beat this year but don't count out the defending national champions either. I'm looking for another very competitive ECAC hockey season.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

If history tells us anything, these preseason polls are absolutely meaningless. I believe that is especially true this year in the ECAC.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Just wanted to throw a thought out there. Obviously those who follow our recruits realize how strong our recruiting class is and we expect some of them to contribute immediately (Smith, Piepers, etc). Do we think other coaches don't necessarily think that those kids will contribute immediately and that's why they voted us lower than we all think we are or is it because the coaches in the ECAC don't really recruit our guys (we compete for recruits with HE schools more so than ECAC schools) and so they don't really know our incoming kids. Or do the coaches just not really give a crap and vote whatever they feel haha

Edit: Rand is probably happy we were voted 5 instead of 2 or 3
