2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Quinnipiac has the most BCHL players on it's roster in all of the NCAA so I'm confident Rand and Riga will put Landon in a spot where he's most likely to succeed. I don't expect him to lead the team but I think 30, 35 points is a fair expectation especially if he's with Peca and Anas on the first line

Exactly and as a matter of fact the new level of thinking amongst coaches and scouts is that the USHL vs. the BCHL argument no longer exists. both leagues provide a great level of talent and both leagues produce college ready players. As far as a "style" of play that is all USHL marketing. The last time I checked the NCAA style of play was to score more goals than your opponent. A lot of over thinking going on.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Does anyone know why Quinnipiac just dropped out of the Frozen Ice Hockey Classic scheduled for December 2014?

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

According to the article, Jack McDonald said it had to do with satisfying other scheduling obligations. Later in the article it said that the decision went beyond scheduling conflicts and above the hockey program.

I couldn't find a link to the article either; read it in the newspaper this morning.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

According to McDonald, Quinnipiac overlooked a two-year, four-game contract with St. Cloud State that begins this season. The Bobcats are at St. Cloud this season for a two-game series; St. Cloud returns the trip to Hamden in the 2015-16 season.

That is a team we want to schedule. Very happy that is the reason we are pulling out of the tournament for that matchup with St. Cloud.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

How do you "forget" an important series like that? A little odd to me. Yale is now being non committal as well.

First thing I thought too.

Either way, happy to be out of that tournament. Hate to play a conference team in non conference and anytime you can avoid Atlantic Hockey it'll help SOS. Happy we will be playing a western team this year. When Chip named all our NC opponents I was highly disappointed there wasn't a western team. I still want more big name opponents for us, but I like that we demand a return trip from the bigger names.

As an Under Armour AD of the Year, he should have a better memory! http://www.quinnipiacbobcats.com/sports/athletics/2013-14/mcdonald_nacda_adoy[/url

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

At the banquet Rand said they were hoping to land some western teams but only if reciprocal deals could be reached. St. Cloud was one of the teams he mentioned. Perhaps that was the only opening in their schedule so the decision to go there as opposed to staying in the tournament makes sense.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

I fully suspect St Cloud only recently agreed to this and to make it happen, they pulled out of Bridgeport. I like it

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Bill Riga listed as a potential candidate for the Princeton opening. That would be a huge loss for us. Riga has helped bring so many of the players in and is known as one of the best recruiters in the country. http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/201...-bob-prier-at-princeton-darren-yopyk-ben-barr

I wouldn't take that job if I were him. Poor facilities to begin with. Tough admission standards and how much of a commitment to Hockey do they really care about at Princeton. He should wait for something better to come along.

I know some on that list have applied and/or shown interest. No inside knowledge re: Riga. I believe he will be a great head coach down line. However, to your point that Princeton isn't a good situation. Sure, that's right, but there are only 58 jobs in D1 hockey. They don't grow on trees. You don't always have opportunity to be picky.

That is indeed right but that is one job I think I would stay away from. I just think it is a no win situation there. Poor facilities, lack of funding to the program, tough admission standards.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

New AD though. They have all the money in the world and they could refocus it with a new AD. Should get some good interest. Dumais won't apply I don't think cause Bennett will probably try for the Michigan job next year and then he'd be in line at Union
