2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Chip confirms Jeff Cox's earlier report on Justin Agosta transferring to Quinnipiac.

Just finished dinner with the folks and Dad and I started talking bobcats hockey. Realized I hadn't been on here in awhile. He then dropped the Agosta bomb on me. This is a HUGE pick up. I saw a lot of him this year and he stood out on a team full of great d-men including TVR, Knodel and Sorkin. He'll be one of the top 2 D. I don't know what side he plays off the top of my noggin but if you could ever package him with Federico ... WOW! It should also go without saying but having an extra veteran will prove well for the 10 freshmen. Let's also keep in my mind that I am giving a former UNH player this much credit ... He'll probably jinx our chances of ever winning a title ;). Good to see a Wildcat turn into a Bobcat.

Good to hear your thoughts on him. Gives us valuable experience back their on the back end that was lacking this coming year.

CR fan here: Looking forward to watching John in camp this summer. Everything I have read thus far says he is an undersized center that is extremely smart and has an unmatched work ethic.

Thanks for the update. Let us know how he performs in camp this summer.

Loaded with talent that's for sure. My gutt feeling is the Pieper's will do better than the Renouf's in their
freshman year. I think Canon Pieper is better than brother Bo right now.

I'm just worried about the Renouf's lack of size. I think 5'8" @ 155lb is shall we say "optimistic". :-)
There again, just like what's happening between the Bruins and the Habs, you have to catch them to
hit them.

What Landon Smith can do with talented line mates could be positively scary for opponents.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

With Lemire back looks like the team will have 29 players this coming season. 10 recruits plus Agosta as a transfer. Upwards of 9 scratches a night on the roster.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Apologies for the Lemire rumor

No need to apologize. I am actually surprised he stayed since its pretty likely he is going to be scratched tonight. For him it might be about being part of a D1 program and getting a good education.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

I would be cautiously optimistic about the numbers Landon Smith put up in the BCHL this year. It is an extremely offensive league. He never put up close to those numbers in 2 years with Cedar Rapids or Chicago. The USHL is much closer to the NCAA style of play than the BCHL.

Dont get me wrong Landon is highly skilled and lighting quick up the wing, but is a total perimeter player so don't set unreal expectations.

Quinnipiac has the most BCHL players on it's roster in all of the NCAA so I'm confident Rand and Riga will put Landon in a spot where he's most likely to succeed. I don't expect him to lead the team but I think 30, 35 points is a fair expectation especially if he's with Peca and Anas on the first line

I think that is fair numbers right there especially playing with those two. Wouldn't shock me if he put up more than that but 30-35 is a reasonable expectation.
