2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

My only concern is the Renouf's lack of size. 5'8" may be a 1 inch "stretch" and 155lbs may be 10lbs optimistic.
But.....they are QUICK and you gotta catch 'em to hurt 'em.

Hearing Peca isn't a 100% sure he's coming back yet it's likely he will. Also the Jones' sound like they will both sign today while JST might wait till the offseason to become a free agent

Losing Peca will be a huge loss. That would leave them without any senior forwards next year. The forwards will already be pretty young as it is next year. If Peca goes we have to look at this team a bit different. They may take a step back to take a step or 2 forward.

I don't think he will leave but who knows.

Also BVB will graduate this year so he got it done a year early. Great to hear that as well. Can't wait to see him play Tuesday. Great day for the program

That makes leaving early probably the right call if he is graduating early. A 2 year 1.3 AAV deal doesn't hurt as well. Best of luck to him in the NHL and beyond. I hope he has long success with Calgary.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Looking at the out of conference schedule next year I know they have a home and home with Northeastern and that is for the next 4 years. I believe they also may have Lowell again next year and I believe Providence and maybe Merrimack again. Anyone hearing anything different or some additional teams?

BCHL Recruit stats from over the weekend

Logan Mick in 2 games had 1 goal and 1 assist
Bo Pieper 1 goal
Canon Pieper 1 assist

This doesn't get said enough to you but thank you for your continued coverage of the recruits. I really do appreciate it.

My question to you is we have 8 spots on next years roster (jones, jones, BVB, JST, Hibbs, Tolkinen, Brooks Robinson, and Peter Quenneville all leave a spot) which guys do we see next year to take those 8 spots, keeping in mind Robinson's spot is a walk on

Here's the thing about recruiting a lot of people don't get. Just because a player with a scholarship graduated doesn't mean a replacement freshman with a scholarship will be coming in. In college hockey, a lot of players get 2-for-4s meaning they pay freshman and sophomore then get free ride as juniors and seniors. So it is entirely possible a sophomore this year could get getting one of the seniors scholarships.

Check out my write up below on who I think is coming in and some thoughts. Feel free to continue this discussion to get more people involved.

From the BCJHL players I have seen I think Smith and the Pieper brothers will impress.
The Renouf twins are a "wait and see" for me. I'm hoping that super quickness will
continue in the ECAC. But....everybody is bigger, strong and faster as you move up.

I know very few kids get a full scholarship on the team. I don't know exactly how many scholarships the school awards for athletics for the team but I know that some of these kids definitely have academic scholarships as well. I'm sure no school is the same when it comes to dividing their limited amount of scholarships up so even Brooks' spot may be filled with someone on scholarship

The team uses the maximum allowable scholarships, but they do split them among players on the team, so very few guys get a full ride.

Another nice write-up about BVB. Really interesting comments from the coach.

Anyone hear anything further on the Jones'? Seems odd that they wouldn't be signed by now. I'm guessing that due to the fact Kellen was drafted and Connor wasn't, they might be holding out until the end of the regular season so that they can both sign as free agents (isn't that what JST is doing as well)?
