2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Congrats to @sean_lawrence29, @kevmck27, @TannerMacMaster, and @ltsmith16 for signing with Quinnipiac. Great day for the program. #qu

Sean Lawrence (G), Kevin McKernan (D), Tanner MacMaster (F) and Landon Smith (F) officially signed their NLI's to come to Quinnipiac. MacMaster and Smith out of those 4 are two headliner names and the 2 headline names in the entire class.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

MacMaster will also be a true freshman as he does not turn 18 until August. We haven't had many of those in recent years other than Peca and Connor Clifton.

Awesome news!

The problem with true freshmen is that they're the ones you need to worry most about bolting early. But I'll take whatever these kids can bring to the program as it will only make us better.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

There are still 6 more that need to sign NLI's. Expect the Pieper brothers, the Renouf twins, Andrew Taverner and one of Scott Davidson or Nelson Gadoury as the last player to sign a NLI.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

We won't carry 4 goalies
It's a rare occurrence but we did carry 4 in 2009-10: Mathieu Cadieux, Dan Clarke , Eric Hartzell, and Pat McGann. Cadieux moved on at the end of the season and we all know where Hartzy went! ;)

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

Rouleau, Luczyk, and Lemire are all transferring. All good players that can make a contribution to another D1 school. Best of luck to all them and thank you for your contribution even if it wasn't on Fridays and Saturdays

Rouleau and Luczyk don't surprise me, but Lemire saw a bit of playing time and did a pretty good job in his role.

They're all victims of the level of the program taking a leap over the past couple years. When they committed they were guys that could be 3rd 4th liners consistently and Rouleau probably a solid backup

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

None are surprising at all. Lemire and Lucyzk would have been scratched likely every game next season. Neither player impressed me much this season but I wish them luck as well as Rouleau in their future endeavors.

Re: 2014 Quinnipiac Bobcats off season

With those 3 players transferring time to look at the depth on the team and the potential lines. I didn't have Lemire or Lucyzk playing anyways.

Forwards (15)
Smith-Peca-Anas
St. Denis-MacMaster-Tiefenwerth
Renouf-Clifton-Renouf
Pieper-Taverner-Pieper
Schutt

Scratches
Jonzzon
Davidson
Gadoury

Defense (9)
Federico-Clifton
Toews-Barron
Smith-Sherbinin

Scratches
Fiala
Hilbrich
McKernan

Goalies (3)
Garteig
Meyers
Lawrence

The only two question that exist in my mind as far as lineup are 1) Do you split St Denis and Peca up? St Denis isn't a first liner in my mind but he played very well with Peca and 2) Does Sherbinin switch to D. I agree that I think he will. Everything else looks good to me. Would like to see Lawrence put some heat on Garteig so it only elevates both their play.

Our strength will once again flip flop, this time from offense to defense. If the Renoufs and Tim Clifton make a solid third line this team could end up looking like the 2012-2013 Bobcats minus Hartzell. Garteig NEEDS to take a big step for us to be a great team. Obviously another huge question is how does Anas' game transfer to his new linemates.

I forgot Tommy Schutt. He will play a lot so I have him on the bottom of the list right now but he will be in there multiple times. I would split up Peca and St. Denis as I think MacMaster will be fine in playing that second line center role. I think a smith Peca Ana's line is just dynamic.
