2014 NHL Mock Draft: NCAA Women's Hockey Division

Re: 2014 NHL Mock Draft: NCAA Women's Hockey Division

No one drafted any of the Olympians with remaining collegiate eligibility.

Kessel.

Coyne.

Then of course there are other Olympians who would certainly be drafted.

Knight, Duggan, Bozek, Schlepper, Decker, etc. etc.

I was thinking the same thing, you'd think Poulin & Kessel would be among the first taken.
It's like they compiled their list from last years NCAA scoring leaders.
If they make Karvinen the 1st pick based on her Olympics, why ignore all the Team Canada & USA players?

Last years mock draft that included only seniors was more accurate and interesting

Re: 2014 NHL Mock Draft: NCAA Women's Hockey Division

Speculation for sure and interesting off-season material...Accurate? not so sure.

Karvinen is not "clearly" the most elite talent available.
Scarupa 22nd? I'm thinking TTT has not seen this yet.
Staenz the first freshmen taken as well as Staenz, Tapani, Stalder, and Hirschy ahead of Cammeranesi?
Terry and Babstock taken after the above mentioned freshmen?
6 Minnesota players and 5 Clarkson players taken...OK, but 5 North Dakota players?

Didn't they go in last years draft? I can't recall but think they may have...:)

Remember...who a team drafts depends somewhat on team needs. That is...unless Vikings personnel are involved.

The author is a UND student so obviously not an unbiased list. Some obvious biases, omissions and flaws in the selections and process, but still a fun read.

Karvinen may not be clealy the most elite talent available, but she isn't a surprise #1 pick either. This is a "mock" draft so of course every one of us can find things we don't like with it.

Re: 2014 NHL Mock Draft: NCAA Women's Hockey Division

The 2013 mock is readily available. Substitute 2013 for 2014 in the url or follow this link:

Kessel went first last year, lots of players in this year's draft were taken last year.

This year's post is just a ranking of what one person thinks of the players who played college hockey last year.

I withdraw any objections.

Re: 2014 NHL Mock Draft: NCAA Women's Hockey Division

The 2013 mock is readily available.

but Brandt, Karvinen, and Rattray (whose stock really went up, who would have guessed?) for example, were drafted last year as well
while others on Team Canada or USA have never been drafted despite having college eligibility remaining
if she's going to do this every year, and it is an interesting off season read, maybe she should set some criteria for eligibility
leaving off players who took off a year to play in the Olympics is a gaff

I guess several were unable to come to terms with organizations that first drafted them too...:)

Wish I'd had that knowledge prior to commenting...;)

To me it means I can mock them for drafting freaking Karvinen #1 overall.

I like the concept though.
