I've heard far better student announcers than this woman. I suspected she'd never played the game, she has so little to say. So I looked up to see her credentials. As I suspected she has none. It's only her second year....broadcasting women's basketball for Big Ten Network.
Unreal.
Here's more bad news. We have to listen to her do the championship game on Sunday. I'm going to watch with no audio.
Thought MU's speed, at least that which they deployed last Saturday, would cause problems for CU even though CU has more talent.
Apparently, not. Or it was not deployed.
A new flavour has been added to the Big Dance.

If I'm not mistaken, the last time there was an ECAC team in the final it went to Triple OT. That was also an Olympic year.
PA announcer, PA announcer! Pronounciation check on "Rattray" in Aisle 3.
One of the best games I have ever witnessed, if not thee best.
I remember sitting there and sincerely thinking when the first OT period ended that the best thing that they could do would be to turn out the lights and announce that the game was over...because there were no losers on the ice that day. I would have been happy to walk out of there under those circumstances because I had already gotten more than my money's worth and neither team would have to feel that they lost.
There was a surreal atmosphere in the place during those three OT periods...almost like a religious experience. Quite a memory...(and the game never became available from the NCAA as was discussed at length at the time on this forum).
Ridder was abuzz that day.
I'll be honest: I have no idea how good Clarkson was after watching that game because Mercyhurst was miserably bad. They were really lucky not to be down 3-0 six minutes into the game, as Clarkson deflections went just wide, bad rebounds eluded their sticks, and the Lakers couldn't get the puck out of their own zone. Mercyhurst looked a little better over the second half of the first period but that was about it for them.
After that they had trouble just keeping the puck on their sticks. They couldn't win a contested puck to save their lives and their passes would go one way while the player supposed to receive it went the other. I want to credit some of that to Clarkson, whose forecheck looked very good at times, but Mercyhurst made so many unforced errors that it was really hard to tell. It was one of the most lopsided 5-1 games I can remember.
Next year, we need to put some other team on the Beat Cornell detail.

Given what is coming back to Cambridge, pretty good bet it might be the Crimson.
The reason she was late is that she started toward her bench when she came out of the penalty box instead of going directly to her D-zone.I remember watching on line, Rougeau stepping out of the box and being smidgen too late to get a stick onto the shooters stick when the goal was scored.
If you can sync up the video with the Clarkson audio feed, I think our radio announcer is one of the best I've heard. He's clearly going to favor Clarkson but, all things considered, I've always found him to be very impartial with his play-by-play.

Only if they get them in the tournament.
Mercyhurst has been paired versus Cornell in back-to-back NCAAs. The Lakers have played a strong quarterfinal to beat the Big Red, but have then bonked in the semi. So Eeyore is saying some other team should get that duty next year, so it is hard to predict that it will be Harvard. It has nothing to do with the ECAC tourney. Not following your logic. Havard and Cornell are both in the ECAC, if Harvard beats Cornell, they are more likely to be the higher seed. Then this years scenario would repeat, with Harvard and Cornell swapped in the tourney slots.
