Those "perfect seasons" concluded with a correct pick in the Frozen Four semifinals. More than one season has ended by either running out of teams or by being forced to take the long shot/last team available.
Congratulations on a great season! Once the bracket came out, there was literally no route to victory: You needed Nichols and Hamline wins just to make it to the Frozen Four, where you'd be out of picks. This game is definitely a combo of skill and luck, and in some seasons, a true "perfect season" is nearly impossible. This may have been one of those years.
