2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

I'd be surprised if they fired Brandon because he raises a ton of money for the University. A few days ago there was an article talking about how among big donors he was popular and not under pressure to be fired. This was before this injury story really took off.

Yeah but as soon as you put the brand in jeopardy, it's all over.

****, I could be a good fundraiser at Michigan.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Stephen Ross really likes him. That kind of ends the discussion, tbh.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

It's like the 60s again in Ann Arbor. Except that instead of protesting a war, they are protesting for football.

Local sports head just had a pretty nasty editorial for both Hoke and Brandon- more for Hoke, though.

I know Brandon has brought a lot of money in, but in trade for getting a handful of very wealthy donors, he's alienated a lot of alumni, students, and former players. I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Not sure if it matters, but many voices are demanding that Brandon resign. John U Bacon points out that either Hoke didn't know or is lying- both of which are horribly bad choices for the head coach. This will get interesting, and I see little hope that the team is focused by this weekend's game with Rutgers.

Ross seems to be a good guy- but his money is only going in two spots- sports and the business school. $250M is a HUGE amount of money, but the core schools in the university are not getting any of it.

If Michigan wants to buy Brandon out, they can. It's not ideal to have to spend that kind of money, but if it needs to be done, they can afford it. Forbes ran a study that Iowa can afford to buy Ferentz out. Michigan can buy Brandon out.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

I suspect that this part of the ****show is almost over. This can't possibly continue much longer.

I said this elsewhere, but I'm going to put it here, too. October 27 is the Monday after the MSU game. I suspect that Hoke will be gone then. The comparisons to Bobby Williams stand out to me, Saturday's...uh....fiasco exempted. All that's missing is the blowout loss in the in-state rival's stadium, which will likely take place on the 25th.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Charlie Weiss should coach Michigan, with Tim Tebow as the offensive coordinator, and Michael Sam for defense. And Ann Arbor is in a perfect location considering all of ESPN lives in nearby Cleveland now.

Favre as QBs coach.

And for those doubting the Harbaugh thing...SF DID try to trade him to CLE this year. Just sayin'.

Say it with me: "Interim Coach." This season is lost for MI already.

So Greg Mattison is the interm. What happens when Michigan doesn't have a coach a week before Signing Day? Doesn't have a staff in place and relationships built with recruits? It's why Bielema left Wisconsin before coaching in the Rose Bowl.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

While we're throwing crap at the wall, Mattison may elect to go out the door when Hoke is shown in that general direction. Nussmeier may be the interim when this goes down.

This recruiting class is going to be shot to hell anyway. The numbers were going to be low in the first place due to the few seniors.

Didn't one of their four-star recruits already decommit in the wake of last Saturday's sh*tshow?

If this Harbaugh thing has legs, and I think it does, the PR of that will have reached recruits.
