2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Shirtless Guy

Old Dirty Basterd
Hopefully my title is wrong but this looks like it will be a long season. Continue the discussion on Ryan Braun if you will XYZ.
Yeah, that's how chain of custody works and why it's often easily challenged. We run into it at work here all the time, though that's with water/soil samples. Nonetheless, it's the first thing the lawyers go after since there is very often an error somewhere, even if really minor and meaningless.

That said, since that's how it works...the chain was of course violated in this case and as such the results were appropriately thrown out on the appeal. Which has little to do with the fact there was synthetic testosterone in his system nonetheless.
The point is with the chain of custody broken, you can not know the bold part beyond a reasonable doubt. Granted, we'd have to assume that Dion or someone at the lab tampered with the sample and spiked it to believe that and some cannot accept that but it is plausible...

I get that the thread title is a carryover from the conversation, but please delete and rename.

Which is what gets it thrown out on legal grounds. Someone forgetting to simply sign or date a form (among a myriad of other things) would have accomplished the same.

Anyway, I'll stop cluttering it up now, but my original question stemmed from a discussion with my brother who I'm pretty sure has a gilded statue of Braun that he sleeps with every night. That discussion led me to the "what exactly must people do these days before people stop looking up to them?" question. Braun was merely an easy example as I've followed the Brewers since I was five. When I see these repeated instances of guys cheating, lying or pulling crap like Tiger Woods did, I have to admit -- for as entertaining as sports can be...I have a hard time understanding why people find many of these athletes worth cheering for. My actual curiosity probably has far more to do with psychology than it does le dopage.

And now...back to the performance of the bullpen...

This is no worse than some of the pathetically cheesy UW thread titles :)

Fair enough. Didn't know you are a Brewers fan, so wasn't sure what your motive was.

Speaking of Moli, a buddy of mine had a t-shirt that had illustrations of nine of the 82 Brewers' mustaches on it with their names below each one. Molitor's was a white powder stache. Classic. :D

EDIT: Here it is. Remembered it slightly wrong, but we were probably sitting in the Buckethead Brigade when he had it, so it's been a while.

<a href="http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/discovering-the-flaw-ie9e3hj-201563901.html">Article about Lohse</a> that details his injury problems and turnaround in 2008.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

So... the Brewers now have 3 shortstops and no real third basemen and no real first basemen. Sprained knee for Ramirez, no details yet. Another ugly game. and oh yeah, Braun is out with a neck thing. Hoping it doesn't linger like his back thing. And the bullpen sucked once again. On a bright note, Lohse was pretty good, so he's just gonna have to pitch every inning of every game. :p

I have to agree, it's a title all based on negative assumptions and really puts the team in a negative light. Shirtless, if that's the way you feel about the team now, based on no facts, by bother coming in here? I could understand the title if Braun was suspended and the team was 20-40 after 60 games, but to start the season?

I read he was scratched with "right neck spasms". I guess his left neck is okay? :D

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

*sigh*

Maybe they'll be better on the road?

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Braun is back in the lineup. So now they're only down a 1B, 3B and SS.

Aoki 9
Gomez 8
Braun 7
Weeks 4
Luc 2
Gonzalez 6
Maldy 3
Yuni 5
Estrada

... and Braun already has 2 hits today. apparently both his necks have recovered. :)

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

The bearded Canadian comes in and saves a game!

Not him, the other one. Henderson gets the save after getting out of the inning with the bases loaded.

So... maybe it' not just Axford? (Well, part of it is but hear me out). Maybe we need a new pitching coach? Or at least a "late reliever" pitching coach? Can we hire away Trevor Hoffman from his cushy Padres job?
