2013 Great Lakes Invitational, One like no other as part of the Winter Festival

Re: 2013 Great Lakes Invitational, One like no other as part of the Winter Festival

I wasn't thrilled with Murray. I thought he handled the press poorly, and was dour when he was on tv.

To me, it seems like Murray has an axe to grind with everyone. Too competitive for college sports, seems a better fit for some type of pro level of hockey.

I really enjoyed Murray's comments to the rinkside reporter on the first period of the Friday night Michigan game when he couldn't believe his player received a slashing penalty even though the aggressor did not break his stick on the play! OK?

You are a MAC fan...

Not really.... But if thats better than being a moron I'll take it. My guess is that you're going to say being a fan of the MAC makes me a moron.... So either way I made another goof.... Embarrassed myself and my school... Im a bandwagon Bronco fan.... I get it... Thankyou and goodnight!

Noooo, I don't think that you are necessarily a moron nor do I think that you're bandwagon. I'm guessing that you attended Wastern, if you did you are not bandwagon. Granted, if you didn't attend a school and you are still a fan of it that doesn't automatically mean that you are bandwagon. Just I've never seen it with a MAC school, therefore I'm operating under the assumption that you graduated from Wastern...

I respect everyone who graduated from any university, current students that attend certain schools is another story though. Once they graduate it turns to respect though (even if I still make fun of them).

It seems to me that Coach Murray, who has coached at all levels, knows what a slashing penalty is. He has coached at the pro levels, but he has also coached Team Canada to several World championships, if I believe the reporting of FoxSportsDetroit. Understand there is always a bias towards the bigger schools State and U-M.
Better budgets, better facilities and a lot more press coverage, so as a coach, sometimes you have to be a bit edgy and remind everyone on game day it is supposed to be a level playing field.
As a WMU alumni, I applaud Coach Murray. I am tired of so called "morale" close but not enough" losses. As I was watching both games on TV, he was instructing his players as well as motivating them.

Sorry he isn't as tame and lovable as Red

He does get on the refs a bit, but has shown nothing but class when talking about other teams players or coaches.

Yes, he is exactly the type of coach WMU needs. He doesn't concede anything to anybody! Just play the game!

Doesn't have two rings either. :p His act is going to wear out if he doesn't lay off the officiating. Doesn't work in the NCAA.

I can't disagree with your other remarks. Glad he doesn't act like Rico.

Time will tell if he will mellow a bit. But I don't think it is an act, it is more of a game-day style. It's kind of like the "Jud Heathcote" approach to coaching where you did not always match up in talent, but you made up in game day tactics and coaching.
