2013 Brice Alaska goal rush UAA uaf, western Michigan and Denver

Re: 2013 Brice Alaska goal rush UAA uaf, western Michigan and Denver

As a fan of the old CCHA and being pretty disgusted at the way the WCHA and CCHA broke up mostly because of the new NCHC league, I was thrilled to see the new WCHA go 2-1-1 against these "like minded" turncoats at the Brice Alaska Goal Rush!

Makes me think that aside from the first few goals let in by the UAA team before they switched goalie in the first game, the goalies for both UAA and Alaska kept the teams in the games. Both Denver and WMU have goalies with stellar reputations and stats, but after the UAA goalie switch, it looks to me like neither UAA or Alaska got "out goalied" this weekend. I did see video of the Alaska/WMU shootout and the Alaska goalie stone-cold stoned them! Fun to watch.

What about the (new?) talent between the pipes for the Seawolves and Nanooks? Are they looking good? Bright future between the pipes? I love to hear of new goalie talent and especially when they help smack down the NCHC! And WMU and DU are supposed to be among the upper half of the NCHC teams?

Looks like both Alaskan teams are going to be tough this year and the new WCHA will be better in final NCAA tournament picks for that.

John Keeney was solid as a freshman last year for the Nanooks. Not Greenham-esque but got the job done. He was a bit shaky in the QU loss, which could have played into Jones getting the start this past weekend.

I know next to nothing about Davis Jones, but the coaching staff was apparently high enough on him to play against Denver and WMU, which are two talented teams.

Granted each goalie has only played two games, but Jones has the better numbers so far.
