Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat? (Part II)

Hey folks!

I've been very busy, but I have been reading the thread daily...

Does anyone have any updated information on the DirecTV channel that the LP games will be on???

The ECAC released some initial information but declared that a DirecTV channel will be announced sometime this week.

Well, Thursday night would be a good time to know this channel... ;)

Good luck to the boys and hopefully we come out of this bruising weekend with hardware and a healthy lineup for the next set of games in the NCAA's...

Keith.

EDIT: I took the time to check the ECAC web site and amazingly enough, the information was there!!! *sigh* DirecTV channel 623...I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Keith.

Yes!!! I had a felling last night that we would move ahead of BC after they lost 2 games at home. You never know though with all the big program bias that the voters have. It's about time we squeezed into #2.

Great day for Union Hockey. Big smiles!!!

You were in the Frozen Four two years ago. It's safe to say that Union is and should be considered a legitimate power all over the country.

Here is hoping that all four of us make it to the big dance, and they spread us out so that we can have an all ECAC Final 4, the way God always intended it. :)

+1
Although I have to confess that if I could choose, I'll be happy with no hardware this week-end, but a nice trophy from Philadelphia

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat? (Part II)

How do you watch the game if you don't have cable ? I can't find it on America One, What The Fridge ?

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat? (Part II)

There is no streaming broadcast. I believe it is cable or Direct TV only.
Thanks Wholin1
It baffles me that in this age of modern technology, they can't even get a PAID live stream to the internets... so sad...

From the same people who gave you the highly successful "Hockey on the Boardwalk".. shocking!!

For those of you in NYC not making the trip to Lake Placid, Union is holding an event at Van Diemen's where the game will be on. 2nd floor is rented out and there are food and drink specials.

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat? (Part II)

Some impressive stats over the last 10 games for Union's all-rookie selection compared to the other forwards:

Mike Vecchione- 5-10-15 +14
Sam Anas- 5-3-8 -1
Matt Carey- 2-3-5 E

It just ending early in the 2nd overtime ... Colgate won it 3-2!

It figures...we had to trek back to Albany last night and left after the first OT. We couldn't have waited an extra 16 minutes??

Should be a tough game tonight...Finn was excellent and Colgate is solid on defense. This is the only ECAC team that Union did not beat this year (0-1-1).

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat? (Part II)

Just some numbers:
We have not won against Colgate this year 0-1-1
We have not beaten Colgate singe January 13, 2013
In our first meeting they outshot and outskated us and beat us 5-3.
Since January 1 Colgate has been 13-3-4
Av. 3.2 gpg would be ranked about 10 in the nation
Av. 2.0 goals against would be ranked 2-3 in the nation, ahead of us.
Av. 4.5 gpm against us this year. We avergaed 3.5 against them.

Colgate outplayed QU and deserved the win, no question. I do think the Olympic ice favored Colgate.
A great defensive game
Colgate's cross ice passing was off but QU did not exploit when the puck was turned over by Colgate several times in the first period.
Colgate and Cornell were playing for their lives. A Colgate lose would have meant <5% prob of making NCAA. Now they are set. Colgate is in. Even in a worse case scenario.

Colgate has no weaknesses. Great speed !!!! Not sure I saw QU at its best.

Footnote:
IMO great attendance for the Cornell matchup. Great turnout by Cornell, both fans and students and a great band and a good turnout by Colgate and Union. A poor turnout by QU. I guess their focus this weekend was on womens hockey. Hoping attendance exceeds AC. We have lots of fans in Ithaca that are congratulating us and wishing us the best on their blogs. Having been to AC these past two years LP has so many added benfits.

Attendance was estimated at 5,500 for the Union/Cornell game. That's the first semifinal and a 4:30 start on a Friday afternoon, that's actually really good. Also, keep in mind that one of the big benefits is that the Olympic Center seats 7,700 for hockey plus a little extra for standing room. That is the perfect size for this tournament. It will be steadily around 5,000 even more when Clarkon/SLU or RPI make it. That's good considering Atlantic City looked empty and attendance figures were only a little over 3,000 for the semifinals and the arena seated 11,000. I'm personally thrilled it's back in Lake Placid, it's where it belongs!!!

The ECAC should get their act together. The idea should be to provide as much exposure as possible for the league championship. Not everyone can make it to Lake Placid (sadly), but the only way I could follow the game last night was a radio stream and a blog. No video stream unless you had an obscure sports network from you cable provider and the cable provider was signed up with Fox College network to allow it. After reading all week on the ECAC web site that the game would be streamed via America One, we find out this isn't true at the last minuet. I'm all for having the FF at LP but let fans who can't make the trip watch it online or on TV via a network that maybe more than 3% of the people can get. Pretty bush league if you ask me. Oh, and go 'Gate
