2013-14 Season Rosters

Re: 2013-14 Season Rosters

didnt they get a D1 goalie trans mid-season last yr??

I don't see him on the roster? Fabrian Sivnert was the goalie who transferred from Bimidji last year. That is a huge loss if he is not on campus, and a huge pick up if someone can grab him! Saw him play at the Pathfinder Tournament, and he definitely can steal a game!

perhaps he is the 1 player unaccounted for on my list??? or maybe he stayed in Sweden?

Re: 2013-14 Season Rosters

I suppose it's possible he just got burned out on hockey. *shrug*

Often this is just a way of saying I can't play this year for academic (or disciplinary) reasons instead of saying publicly "I am on probation and can't play" or "I got caught vandalizing something..." and am on disciplinary status. I've seen this before from players in a number of sports at Norwich and other schools - and the player sometimes returns and sometimes doesn't

You are being sarcastic? If not, that is a shame. He is talented, and fun to watch.

No, I'm not being sarcastic that is Fabian's position on the matter.

At this time he just doesn't want to play. He told some of his colleagues and friends this last Spring, and obviously hasn't changed his mind.

Graduation severely hurt their goal scoring, and this did the same to their defense. They were unable to recruit netminders because prospects weren't sure if they had to battle him for the job for the next 3 years. So, they'll go through the 2013-2014 campaign with what's in the stable.

I can remember two guys I played with who pulled the ol' "I'm burned out on hockey" thing and both of them to this day , regret it terribly. You only get a small window so it bears serious consideration. I hope the young man doesn't experience those regrets when he's 50.

This is pretty consistent with what I heard. I have heard him described as a kid who played hockey because he was good at it, not because he necessarily loved it. He certainly would have helped LU this season.

As I stated previously, that is a shame. I thought he was All-America caliber, and looked forward to following his career. Good luck to the kid, how can you argue choosing school

Re: 2013-14 Season Rosters

I noticed on the Geneseo roster that often injured forward Rich Manley is not listed. The 6'5" Manley looked like he could've been a force but couldn't stay on the ice. Also, Alex Lubczuk, a defenseman with 16 points a year ago, looks missing. Two key losses for the Knights who were hit pretty hard by graduation to begin with.

Good pick up, manley hasnt lived up to the good frshmn yr,injury and maybe a girlfriend or 2...Lubczuk looked to have a nice frhmn yr as well, who knows...they do have a nice class coming in with the 2 Sacret heart transfers and the acha player who had a few seasons in the USHL, they will help, and a few more good looking freshmen from what the stats say,but losing those to guy will cut into their buzz for sure, not as bad as Adrian losing Meastry:eek:

Yes - I noticed the same yesterday, but didn't get a chance to post. There were 4 total non returnees for reasons other than graduation. 2 Dmen (Larry Playfair's son 'Dennis Playfair' and Goldberg) who both received minimal playing time so I assume that is the reason for their departure.

The 2 you mentioned were much bigger losses. Manley was a senior and definitely would have been a starter. He tended to be paired with our big guns as a distributor, energy, garbage goal guy - can't say he was really a 'highly skilled' player despite his stats looking pretty big. We'd all get a lot of assists if we were passing to Zach Vit. That said, he will still be missed for the reasons we both mentioned and it is too bad his career appears to be over. The bigger lost IMO is Lubczuk as he would have maybe been our #2 defenseman. For those who don't remember, he was on the all rookie team along with his fellow freshman blueliner Nate Brown. Three of the six members of that team were Ice Knights (David Ripple being the other). We lost 3 starting defenseman so Brown, Caradonna, and Lubczuk were certainly expected to step up big time this year. Also a bigger loss because I was looking forward to 3 more years of him on the team vs. just 1 for Manley. Of course, maybe it is a "get academics in order and he'll be back" situation but I don't have any information.

Not all is lost of course as certainly a lot of other skilled players and recruiting class looks quite solid, but definitely would be better to have had them on the team.

Alex Lubczuk apparently prefers lacrosse ...
