2013-14 Schedules Thread

OK Folks, since someone asked about it, I might as well start up the thread...

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjrUzfoOPCB5dFpad2hLYkFoMW8wRTkzQmR3U1BpWWc&pli=1#gid=0

New this year, of course, the subtraction of the CCHA, and addition of both the BTHC and the BHHC- er NCHC. Penn State and Alabama Huntsville have both found homes, Notre Dame has gone to the east, and some other shuffles here and there.

Any additions are welcome. Be aware that it is locked for editing due to some childish playing by some people last year, but any good info is welcome.

Non-conference games against conference opponents? Am I reading that correctly?

Re: 2013-14 Schedules Thread

LSSU also plays at Union and at Notre Dame non conference. The Wisconsin series is scheduled for November 1st and 2nd in Madison.

I also heard Maine / BU at Fenway would be OOC. Not sure that is confirmed though.

Re: 2013-14 Schedules Thread

The UAH schedule:

Here's the UAH schedule in list form, based on the information in the release:

October 11-12 at Northeastern
October 25-26 vs. Bemidji State*
November 1-2 vs. Ferris State*
November 8-9 at Alaska-Anchorage*
November 15-16 vs. St. Cloud State
November 22-23 at Northern Michigan*
November 29-30 at Notre Dame Tournament (UAH, Northeastern, Notre Dame, Western Michigan)
December 6-7 at Bowling Green*
December 13-14 vs. Minnesota State*
December 27-28 at Wisconsin
January 3-4 vs. Bowling Green*
January 10-11 at Notre Dame
January 17-18 vs. Alaska-Anchorage*
Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at Alaska*
February 7-8 at Michigan Tech*
February 14-15 at Minnesota State*
February 21-22 vs. Lake Superior State*
Feb. 28-March 1 at Bemidji State*
March 7-8 vs. Northern Michigan*
March 14-16 WCHA first round playoffs (at campus sites)
March 20-22 WCHA championship semifinals and final (TBA)

If I read this right, we have THIRTY-EIGHT regular season games, which would be the most games played in school history even if we don't qualify for the playoffs (record is 37 in 2001-02). We're apparently taking full use of the Alaska exemption.

Re: 2013-14 Schedules Thread

I know LSSU plays NC at Union in early-mid October as well Robert Morris at home sometime in October. The Lakers also play at Wisconsin and Notre Dame, but have no idea when they play them.

EDIT: I noticed above LSSU plays at Wisconsin November 1-2.

Budgets are tight and teams are struggling to fill 14 OOC games, particularly with the Ivies limiting games. Maine is already $200,000 over budget for travel. Don't know the financials for the other schools, but Dennehy and Leaman have expressed concerns over the availability of opponents. Leaman has called for Hockey East (or at least HEA minus BC/BU/ND) to enter a scheduling agreement with one of the other conferences to guarantee everyone has enough games. I would like to see the old WCHA-Hockey East arrangement return but not sure if that's viable. However, I would expect to see OOC games against conference opponents for the next few seasons - probably involving the New England flagships (Maine, Vermont, UMA, UConn) playing a round-robin. Maine and New Hampshire might also play an OOC game each season, trading off between Manchester and Portland. Hockey East is going to regret going to 12 teams.
