2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Not to rain fire on our parade here, but QU hasn't won a Saturday game in over 2 months.

So far so good! 3-1 Bobcats end of the 1st.

Saint gets another.

Awesome.

8 games against Yale in the last 2 years, outscore them 31-15 and go 6-1-1... Something about that one loss though.

BEAT YALE!
Done!

They started their championship year at our expense, and we finished it for them.

Great effort this weekend to win the series and move on to Lake Placid. Not bad for a team in a "rebuilding" year. The Bulldogs made it interesting but in the end we capitalized on our chances and put them away.

Congratulations to the Bobcats!

Look, it doesn't lessen the pain of losing the big one 11 months ago. But Quinnipiac just did to Yale what they did to us last year.

Was that really a bigger level last year? It's the playoffs. Doesn't matter whether you get eliminated in the first round or the last round. Elimination is still elimination. It still sucks when you do it, and it's still awesome when you do it to your rival.

Bottom line: Quinnipiac still has a chance to win the national championship. Yale doesn't. Whether you get eliminated in the Frozen Four or in the conference quarters, that's still the bottom line.

Today and every day: A great day to be a Bobcat.

Keep telling yourself last year didn't matter, if that's what lets you sleep through your worst nightmare. . Yale fans have forgotten about losing and being eliminated from many ECAC playoffs in the past. QU fans will never forget losing the National Championship in a shut out to Yale. Did you exact some revenge tonight? Surely, but to compare a quarterfinal series win to winning it all is just too much of a stretch. Congrats on your much deserved win.

I'm not saying last year doesn't matter. And I'm not saying this year matters more. Last year was one of the worst sports losses I've ever been through as a fan.

But last year doesn't diminish doing it this year. That's my point.

Saturday recruit stats

BCHL playoffs

Bo and Canon Pieper each had an assist in Coquitlam's 2-1 win. They lead the series 2-0.

Logan Mick was held scoreless in a 5-3 loss as Vernon is now tied at 1 with Langley.

AJHL playoffs

Andrew Taverner had 1 goal in Sherwood Park's 2-1 overtime win. They lead the series 2-0.

Holy stretch batman! Lets enjoy it but not get carried away.

Gotta be in a great shape to be in BPT now.

I think we benefit from the Olympic ice more than any other team that will be there. Federico being back would be huge as defensive mistakes will be capitalized on. Great weekend. Really liked the resilience the team showed. When Yale had hope they took it away quickly. Glad we got out of the weekend without any injuries and no suspensions looming.

Today is the last day to submit your picks for the pick the awards contest. Takes a couple minutes. All the award should be coming out tomorrow morning

Also we've basically guaranteed ourselves to be in Bridgeport, that is unless we take the last 1 seed. I'd personally rather be in Bridgeport but I still want that ECAC championship, so go Wisconsin. Don't know how everyone else feels but I'm going to be selfish and say I want them in Bridgeport over getting a one seed

Obviously Bridgeport is preferred, but Worcester is also fine with me. First things first, though... they need to take care of business in Lake Placid.

Anyone planning on being there next weekend?

TSD had possibly his best weekend of the season. The kid was flying out there. I thought JST also put up his best overall performance and it was nice to see him get the game winner last night.

Seems like Bridgeport is all but certain for QU especially with there being an emphasis on attendance.

We're gonna forego lake placid so to be at all the NCAA games. Already making our Bridgeport plan for Friday the 28th.

Not to look too far ahead, but I played with the Pairwise predictor a bit. Ran a few scenarios… seemed to be that, worst case (QU loses to Colgate and all the Top 10 teams still in the mix go deep as they can before running into each other) QU is 2 seed. Best case (QU wins the conference tournament and Wisco and Ferris stumble) QU can actually still grab a 1 seed. I’m sure there are various scenarios that I didn’t run that may throw a wrench in the 1 seed, but it still is in play…
