Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Obviously, you don't practice what you always claim Joe Marsh preached. You won, show some class.

Mark, I could take a **** in center ice and it would still be more classy than Rand Pecknold. Q-Pac was intentionally interfering all night. They pick. They get called for it on one of the poorer examples, and are made to pay for it by the #1 PP in the nation, but you could tell by the way Pecknold went after the refs that he was blaming them for the loss. So are a number of your fans. What were penalties in the 3rd? 4-1 or 5-1 for Q-Pac? Interesting given that 5 on 5, SLU pretty clearly had more puck possession. Pecknold demonstrated again tonight why he is almost universally despised. I feel sorry for the QU players that have to play for him. From what I have heard from some QU players, so do they.

I don't think he was blaming them for the loss, but rather letting them know his displeasure over a weak call. Obviously, we'll never agree as to what his motives were. Also, I spoke with several people after the game and none of them were blaming the refs for the loss.

I feel sorry for the QU players that have to play for him. From what I have heard from some QU players, so do they.
I've spoken with numerous players over the years and never once have any of them ever said anything to that affect. Sure, many say he's tough, but that's a far cry from being despised.

Tonight, SLU was the better team, or at least took advantage of their opportunities when needed. The officiating was typical of the ECAC and the 2 SLU penalties immediately after the Saints took the lead were clearly make-up calls yet we couldn't capitalize on them. As much as I'd like to, I can't blame the refs for this loss.

Stop with the Q-Pac abbreviation. Makes me cringe every time I see it. I know it's a lot of people, not just you, but it is just gross. At no point in Quinnipiac does Q-P-A-C follow each other. Also, if you wanted to just jump to the end, it would be Q-Piac.

Just call them Q, QU, Quinnipiac, or the Bobcats. Hell, I'll even take Quinny. Just no more Q-Pac, please.

Also, stop acting smug. With all the success he has had here, and the recruiting job he is currently doing, I'll take Rand every day of the week. Let the rest of the league, including yourself, be jealous of Quinnipiac, for whatever reason. Have fun being irrelevant.

Bottom line tonight is that QU got beat. Had at least a one-man advantage for what seemed like the last four minutes of the game and couldn't get a solid look out of it. Absolutely massive final month of the season coming up.

Go Bobcats

I feel sorry for those guys too sitting in the top 5 nationally almost weekly since the start of 2013. They must be miserable. Gotta suck to win that consistently to spite your coach.

Agree with this. I will take Rand everyday of the week. 13 20 win seasons in his 20 years of being a head coach with 2 trips of the NCAA and a National Runner up. Likely making a 3rd trip to the NCAA's again this year as well and loading up with another really good recruiting class next season in Hamden. Outside of one trip to the NCAA's, St. Lawrence has been irrelevant in the ECAC. I believe a lot of teams are jealous of Quinnipiac's success due to the fact that they have better facilities, a bigger hockey budget and are flat out bringing in better recruits.

They got beat tonight, plain and simple. Guess what it happens sometimes. Except at the end of the day Quinnipiac's position is still good while St. Lawrence has no chance outside of winning the conference playoff title of making the NCAA's.

They're known as the "Skating Deerticks" outside Hamden, actually. I don't know where "Q-Pac" comes from, but few know where most of what Got 6 says comes from.

Despite the trolling in the thread below, I've never heard anybody be "jealous" of Q, especially not SLU who has a great hockey tradition. Q has a great team right now -- definitely one of the best in the conference and a strong contender nationally, assuming someone drives a stake through BC's undead heart. In the same way that other teams' fans should respect what Q has accomplished, you might do well to recognize that the ECAC has seen a lot of shooting stars over the years. RPI was going to dominate the conference forever. Then Harvard. Then Clarkson. Then us. Then Vermont. Then SLU. Then us again. Then Harvard again. Then us again. Then Yale.

They all looked unbeatable... right up until the moment they weren't anymore.

Smug? Irrelevant? What have you won? No ECAC Championships! No NCAA Championships! When it comes down to it, Q-Pac has choked in most of their big games.

Q-Pac is the weakest school in the ECAC academically. The school dumps gobs of money into their hockey program. You say Jealous. Not even close. Penalties were 6-1 in your favor in the third. Anas knew he didn't score yet Pecknold was insisting on an official review and he still went after the refs with some choice words at the end of the game. You can have Pecknold. I'd take any of the 11 other coaches over Pecknold because he is bad for the game and bad for the league. College hockey is a small world and I know I am far from alone in my thoughts. We beat Union last weekend. I didn't gloat them and I'm not gloating now. I am simply pointing out that none of the Union players were coming off the ice whining or chirping, and the coaches lost with class. It's the exact opposite of what I saw tonight. The worst I have heard about someone like Bob Guadet or Mike Schafer is they are jerks for the 60 minutes during the game sometimes. That's a hell of a lot better than 24/7. Further, it's no surprise that the polar opposite of Pecknold coached or worked with three of 12 head coaches in this league and one assistant, not to mention last years AHL executive of the year, 3 guys that have had their name engraved on the Stanley Cup in the last few years and is revered in the coaching ranks. All Pecknold has to do is watch and learn. But he can't because his character is flawed.

Please. Enjoy your win and we'll see you in a couple weeks. This was st Lawrence's national championship game. They are not going to make the NCAAs and we saw their BEST effort of the year. We have the target on our back. Best rink, biggest budget, great recruits, and best team. We must be jacked up for every contest or it'll end up like tonight. No excuse. Just got outplayed.
To think Rands players hate him is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. If players hated him would their buddies from juniors come the next year? Absolutely not. But they do. Words out Q is the place to be. SLU is not on that list and for that reason we hear the comments above...

Q-Pac are newbies to this league and you clearly are too if you think that St. Lawrence "has been irrelevant in the ECAC". St. Lawrence has a rich hockey program and anyone with any reasonable knowledge of college hockey knows this. But I guess I shouldn't get too worked up considering the source ... A newbie himself without a hint of a clue and an ounce of class.

Its an even number year for BC and the last 3 even years they won titles (2008, 10, 12). I just they would fall apart but until York goes that won't be the case. Cornell is always relevant. Even last year in a down season in Cornell standards they played Quinnipiac awfully tough in that playoff series. Cornell has some of the most loyal fans in the conference and easily the toughest venue to play in the ECAC though I have never made the trip to Lynah.

Except we beat Union last week and they are better than you. Guess that's why they have the last two ECAC Championships and you don't.

Oh you stop that Got6, Q-Pac is "relevant". Didn't you know? ;):D

I've never been to Hamden, either -- it and godforsaken Orono are the only ECAC (past or present) home sites I've never been to. I'd love to go someday, though personally I'm partial to the old style Gutterson / Matthews / Appleton barns. This is another reason I stick up for SLU -- IMO it's actually they who have the most gorgeous building in the conference.

Right now it's a coin flip whether Q or Union is the better team. Of course, I'd have said the same thing last March, and then you know who came out of nowhere to make their last gasp count.

We'll do our best to help you out next Friday (we host Union). Please feel free to kick the snot out of Yale.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Bob Gaudet reads quote. Slams down fist. Yells "JESUS! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?!!!!"

LMFAO...but Gaudet (and Schafer) are both great guys outside of the game. Bobby isn't even in the horse race on this one.

Every recruit that visits, let alone commits to Q-Pac has to have some incriminating photos that Pecknold has gotten his hands on or are just hopelessly clueless. Pecknold is even worse than McCutcheon.

You may want to tread softly with SLU. In their last 6 games they have tied Cornell (PWR 9), beaten Union (4) and beaten Q (5). They might easily wind up the lowest home seed in the first round which could mean a QF trip to... the conference 1 or 2. I'd go easy on the karma, especially with a Saints squad that for all their mid season problems seems to have pulled it together recently.

I'm sure I have no idea what you mean about McCutcheon... ;-)

One of the weirder experiences of my hockey fan life was sitting in a bar in Lake Placid while Bob Gaudet, Mike Noeth and half the North Country got obliterated. Those were two people I expected to be complete tools based on their one-ice actions, who turned out to be nice guys after the bell.

Too bad Pierre Belanger was not in the group. That would have made me faint.

Pierre has not left his apartment in years. He has been practicing his stare and selling synthetic replicas of his mustache to cheezy porn stars.

I congratulate Saint Lawrence on their victory – they played hard the whole game, Quinnipiac didn't. I thought the officiating in third period was bad, questionable calls against both teams. Being at the game I understand why Pecknold was upset about the late third period penalty call, but that’s hockey, it happens. If this team is as good as I think they are, they’ll regroup and get into the NCAA tournament.

That being said, some of these negative comments about Quinnipiac are rather silly to say the least. I am proud of how far Quinnipiac has come both athletically and academically, and I expect both to continue to rise. And if that bothers others, that’s their problem.

Hahahahaha.....must be guys who ride the pine. The players who came from the BC Junior League like Rand a LOT!
