Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

So I was just informed that the Yale game is sold out already. Absolutely disgusted with the university. How in the world can a game be sold out before the general public has a chance to get tickets? It makes no sense. After all the school did to get folks out to Pittsburgh and now we can't go to games in Hamden. I hope that I read something wrong and that this is all a mistake. If not then I am glad I am back in Maine where it is easy to get tickets to home games :) ... for now.

The reason its sold out is because season ticket holders were allowed to buy up to four additional tickets for that. I was ****ed when I was told that.

Does this surprise anyone?

I truly doubt the season ticket holders grabbed all the available tickets. By 5:30 at the BBQ (which started at 5) I heard that there were only SRO's left. The lines for tickets didn't seem that bad. The math just doesn't make sense to me.

For the record: I did NOT purchase any additional Yale tickets...

Just called Yale Athletics and they are sold out as well, that sucks. Cheapest tix on stubhub are $125 each

Looks like Quinnipiac and the MAAC are working together to bid for the Frozen Four in 2015, 16, 17 or 18 at Orlando's neat new Amway Center:

2014 - QU Women Host Frozen Four
2015, 16, 17 or 18 - QU/MAAC Could Host Frozen Four.

Quinnipiac Athletics and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Submit Bid To Host NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four

HAMDEN, Conn. –Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Commissioner Rich Ensor have announced a joint venture by Quinnipiac University and the MAAC to co-host the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four at the Amway Center in Orland, Fla. for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Quinnipiac will host the 2014 NCAA Women's Collegiate National Championship on Mar. 20-22 at the University's TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. McDonald recently guided Quinnipiac to the MAAC and was accepted by conference commissioner Rich Ensor to begin competition in the NCAA Division I conference for the 2013-14 season.

The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team recently advanced to the Frozen Four in 2012-13, defeating St. Cloud State in the national semifinal before falling to Yale in the NCAA Championshp Game at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. The 2014 NCAA Frozen Four will be hosted by the City of Philadelphia, Pa. at the Wells Fargo Center, home to the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers.

The arena is home to the Orlando Magic of the NBA, the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL, and hosted the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. The NCAA announced November 12, the Amway Center was granted the opportunity to host 2nd and 3rd round games of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament in 2014. On January 14, 2013, the Arena Football League's Board of Directors voted to award Arena Bowl XXVI to Orlando in the summer of 2013. On September 4, 2013, the Orlando Predators were informed the team that they had defaulted on their lease for failing to meet attendance requirements, forcing the team out of the arena.

I was told there were standing room available at 9 this morning but they all went in 30 secs. Either way a head scratcher. Stubhub sellers will be making quite the profit.

Farrell and schwartz, you are missed

Video isn't working but luckily QUN is on. How many folks are there today? How's the scoreboard look? Does JST look stronger? Am I asking too many questions? Where's Darcy Oakes when you need him?

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

How many folks are there today?
The crowd was better than I figured it would be. Roughly about half-full. Brad Marchand was there as his brother plays for St. Mary's.

How's the scoreboard look?
Don't know. Won't be unveiled until Midnight Madness so the UML game on the 19th will be its first use. It is huge though.

Does JST look stronger?
JST looked impressive. In fact, everyone did. I was very impressed by most of the freshmen, especially Connor Clifton. The kid is filthy.

Am I asking too many questions?
That's rhetorical, right?

All in all a very good showing by the Bobcats. I didn't see any glaring weaknesses from the freshmen. Gartieg looked superb... very confident and athletic, and seemed to be seeing the puck well. Rouleau looked good even though he gave up 2. Neither were his fault but the second probably should have been stopped.

I don't think we have anything to worry about going into the season. All the pieces are there, it's just a matter of getting them arranged properly.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Most encouraging thing for me is 4 power play goals. We were 44th in the country on the power play and that can't happen again if we want to go deep again this year.
