Re: 2013-14 NHL Season - With a Wing and a Fehr

So no one cares that Vancouver fired their GM today?
Or is it just that no one cares about Vancouver? :)

Now the death watch is on for Nonis and Carlyle after the Leafs are eliminated. Anyone have Joe Nieuwendyk's phone number? Love to see him as Pres/GM and Doug Gilmour as coach. Hey, it's working in Denver!

It's either that or cut the season back to 70 games.

Well, the Wild actually look like a team that could win a series or two all of a sudden.

Re: 2013-14 NHL Season - With a Wing and a Fehr

I think the kids are alright in Detroit.

Still slightly frustrated that Ken Holland felt that he needed to re-sign Cleary and pursue Weiss. Then again, maybe the kids wouldn't have responded this well if they were here from the start. What an amazing run considering weeks ago sportswriters were feverishly typing the Wings playoff eulogy.

Pretty good effort from the young guns tonight to tie it up and clinch. Now, the question is merely first round exit, or Pittsburgh.

No kidding. I highly doubt Boston/Pittsburgh are looking forward to facing these kids for a series. Hopefully the extra month of "playoff" games hasn't taken its toll.

Leiwike has approached Shanahan to be the President of Hockey Ops. He of no management experience, and another Mimico boy (with Clarkson and Bolland). Meanwhile, Whitby's Nieuwy (and his years of management experience) sits at home counting the $$ from his golf course.

I think I'd rather sit at home and count money from my golf course than manage the dumpster fire (tm) that is the Maple Leafs.

So why is the wild finishing 4th in their division and 7th in conference considered the "Top Wild Card?"

Because of the new playoff format. 7th in the conference is irrelevant. The top 3 from each division automatically make it. The Wild is the top team in the conference that is not in the top 3 of either division.

so 2nd in a division isn't a wildcard team anymore even though they didn't win the division?
