2013-14 NHL Season - With a Wing and a Fehr

Ben Bishop.

Red Wing bias or not, Jimmy Howard needs the time off to let his injuries heal. Maybe he'll get some rest riding pine for Team USA; but it should be Bishop going instead of Howard.

Statistically, sure. However the Powers That Be decided they preferred Howard's playoff experience and pressure situations. Also, Bishop got yanked at the World's. Unless something drastic happens to Quick and Miller, Howard probably won't be seeing much from ice level anyways.

Orpik was on the 2010 team, right? He just turned 33, so it's not like he's ancient. He's always been a pretty good skater even without top end speed. Had a pretty good year last year. Plus, it's quite possible they are just carrying a sure thing as a #7 dman should something happen. I don't think there's any guarantee he will be in the lineup but someone mentioned the fact that you can pair him with Martin. They often talk about pairs for these types of tournaments whether it be on defense or 2/3 of a forward line.

Orpik is your prototypical shutdown dman. I just don't know what their expectations are for him.

Suter is pretty good.

I wish the rest of the game was great, but it wasn't. I'll take the win, but you can't rely on such results when being outshot 30-11 to often. Holtby made six saves. Six.

Reading Burnside's article it sounds as though they are going to put Martin on the right side with Suter, then go with lefties on the left and righties on the right for the other pairings (putting him in the 3rd pairing) or he'd probably be top 4 with this group. That's not to say they won't switch them up at all, but I don't think they'll scratch him unless he's not playing well.

Re: 2013-14 NHL Season - With a Wing and a Fehr

So, did College Hockey Inc. pay NBCSN to have the announcers mention all the colleges that players played at? I've noticed it more this season than ever before. I'm not complaining at all, money well spent as far as I'm concerned. Just something I've noticed. I really liked their commercial and was kinda hoping they did more than one.

They've been doing it for a while. As much as I'm not a huge fan of Pierre McGuire he never seems to pass up an opportunity to mention where a player played in college (and juniors, too).

The NBCSN crews took lessons from Bob Norton.

I think they need another opinion...

Hearing specialist has confirmed no real damage to Luongo's ankle. Sounds like he can start skating as soon as its pain free. #canucks

Team Canada will be announced @ 11 AM ET. Who gets left off that should not have been left off?

St. Louis?

Not surprised with St. Louis. I am surprised with Vlasic over Seabrook and Marleau being added.

Didn't matter who was selected, there were going to be more "snubs" and debate than the kerfuffle over those left off Team USA.

Happy for Sharp - he deserves it.

Okay that Seabs will get to rest and get ready for another Cup run.

Wonder if Crawford's injury blew his chance.

Good luck Canada. Hope you finish 4th. :p
