I am thinking that the Hockey arena will be built on the corner of the new Elmore Road and Northern Lights when the new road is built. I think that is where the Nerland, Cobb and UAA leadership will ultimately want the building. It would be positioned SouthWest of the that intersection.

This is a lot of money and planning, maybe we should wait to see if the WCHA can exist without the top tier teams money wise. Why build a new arena and have no hockey program because we have no conference to play in, same for UAF I think the new playoff schedule should scare all Alaska college hockey fans, it could be the beginning of the end.

Yeah - the proposed playoff system has some problems, but it does mean that an Alaskan team will always make it to the final 5.

I think this is bad news for Alaska hockey, if this league is already worried about finances for the playoffs and there are no big schools to generate money, where is it going to come from. Look at the big picture.

CCHA schools currently get jack in terms of a payout. The CCHA offered stability, but it lacked the financial windfalls that the old WCHA gets. Honestly, I think the CCHA castoffs will be better prepared for the nWCHA if only because those schools are already used to surviving on shoestring budgets.
