2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

Pretty sure that was the feeling last year when CC dismantled them 8-4 or whatever. You can never tell in single game tourneys.

It's certainly not impossible, but considering they just held the two top scoring teams in the nation (UMD and Maine) to a combined 1 goal over the last week, I'd be surprised. Gophers have always been one of my favorite programs to watch and its always fun to watch them kick "the indian" in the nuts.

BC in a cakewalk. The only uncertainty is the layoff, whats that do to the teams, other than that BC is by far the favorite to win the whole thing.

Anything can happen in an 1 game and out format, BC has to learn, after what CC did to them last year. But at least they made the dance and Minnesota will not be an easy team to beat. Nothing is a sure thing. I'm just happy they got past UMD and made it this far. Now we have 2 weeks to ponder and wait. I just wish they didn't schedule last night at 8 PM and now paying the price at work. :)

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

How would one suggest getting Frozen Four tickets that aren't at the top of the arena? I always said that the only way I'd pay a ridiculous amount of $$ for the frozen four is if Union made it, and somehow, some way Union has made it so I cannot miss this.

Is each school given a block of tickets to sell? Forgive me for being very naive with this whole process. Never thought I'd be attending this.

Yes, contact your athletic department ASAP... usually you will go behind the STHers... they usually have somebody in charge of this... usually the guy that handles away game tickets.

I believe that the Minny/BC game is the de facto title game with apologies to the folks in Schenectady and Big Rapids.

Hope I am wrong.

They said the same thing in 2007 where BC-NoDak was the championship game and we know how that turned out..

There could have been two Bulldog teams in the race.
Could have been a maroon and gold Bulldog title game! But we couldn't stop the incredibly hot BC :(

I'm hoping to see a clean game. After watching some of the UND/Minny game, I'm hoping it doesn't get chippy. I'd like to see both teams skating hard and a clean checking game. Up and down action for 60 minutes.

There's being favored, and then there's being far and away the best team in the country. And second best isn't even in their rearview.

Could anything happen? Sure. But if you've seen BC play in the past, I don't know, two and a half months, I'm not sure how anyone who isn't wearing homer glasses (NTTAWWT) wouldn't pick Jerry York's Killbot Factory.

I am not sure Minnesota hates BC too much, so unless they get way behind (which is certainly a possibility with how well BC is playing), there will be no chippiness. Minnesota takes some STUPID penalties, but they are not really of the goonish type. You will likely get your wish.

I'm pretty sure Minnesota doesn't have a chance of beating BC.

For BC, is there another 'Minnesota-like' team they've faced?

And for Minnesota, is there another 'BC-like' team they've similarly faced?

I keep seeing reference to BC's 'four lines' and am wondering whether Minnesota also has that kind of depth.

Biggest impression from this weekend with respect to BC was their stellar defense. Almost like, 'Where did THAT come from?' And I'm speaking about defense in total...not just Milner's two shutouts.

Both teams are very similar. Both are fast and deep. Both play great team defense. Both have very good goaltenders.

Minnesota scored 12 goals this weekend, and their top player didn't even score. Their third line had 3 goals against UND.

Scoring Defenese.

#2 BC 2.07 per game
#9 Minnesota 2.21 per game

Scoring Offense

#1 Minnesota 3.67 per game
#6 BC 3.50 per game

Appears BC is better on special teams both PP and PK. Minnesota is going to want a 5 on 5 game.

Absolutely. Special teams play will be huge. Minnesota needs to cut down on the stupid penalties. Holl's tripping (?) penalty at the beginning of the 3rd period yesterday is a good example. UND scores on that ensuing PP, and that game may have turned out differently. I realize Minnesota is going to take penalties, but I hope they commit ones that save goals or prevent odd-man rushes.

The offensive zone penalties are what really make me frustrated.

they are impressive, no doubt.............I'm not buying into the BC is invincible thing that some have posted. This is going to be a war,a hard fought entertaining game between two great teams and no, I'm not sandbagging. The Gophers are on TV enough here that we have had a chance to see them.......
