Fine. Before the fact. Once the baby is there, leave it alone and let God sort it out.
That has to be one of the most worthless suggestions that anyone has ever had. Congrats.

I watched Freakonomics too. Sure there appears to be a direct correlation between abortion and crime rates.

But if the price of lower crime is eliminating the "crime class", is a society that permits such a thing practicing eugenics??

Lets be blunt because dear old Margaret Sanger sure was -- lets kill off the lower class because they are a drain on society's resources. Once you start down that slope why not kill the "defective" either before they are born or after?

That price of a "more better" society is not one I wish to pay.

I enjoyed Freakonomics too, but they missed by a mile on this premise. The notion that crime in the early 90's came down because there were less youths born into broken families 21 years after Roe v Wade ignores some critical facts. First of all, abortion was legal in many states (CA for example) long before Jan of 1973. In fact Gov. Reagan signed California's law. I believe NY went earlier also. Next, people dont start committing crimes at age 21. They tend to start as juveniles, so according to theory the reduction in crime should have happened in the mid 80's or earlier in states that had legalized abortion before Roe v Wade. Quite the opposite, crime skyrocketed then.

You did see where I wrote "so according to theory" didn't you? After that nice birthday gift I mailed to you I would think you'd be a little less critical of me.:(

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

Women in Arizona trying to get reimbursed for birth control drugs through their employer-provided health plan could be required to prove that they are taking it for a medical reason such as acne, rather than to prevent pregnancy.

A bill nearing passage in the Republican-led Legislature allows all employers, not just religious institutions, to opt out of providing contraceptive coverage when doing so would violate their religious or moral beliefs.

When a female worker uses birth control pills, which can be used to treat a number of medical conditions, the bill would allow an employer who opted out to require her to reveal what she was taking it for in order to get reimbursed.

So, if an employer doesn't like the reason you're taking medication they can deny covering that medication under your health plan? Not only that but the private communication between you and your doctor to acquire that medication has to be revealed to your employer to be able to use your medical coverage?

Really?

This is along with a million other reasons is why tying medical insurance to employment is stupid.

*** More proof the GOP is leaderless? Just as Republicans are trying to move away from social issues, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R) this week was asked if an ultrasound bill being considered in his state goes too far. His answer is something that Democrats and women’s groups are now highlighting and attacking: "Just close your eyes." Here’s his full quote, per the Philly Inquirer: "I’m not making anybody watch, OK. Because you just have to close your eyes. As long as it’s on the exterior and not the interior." Folks, this is in Pennsylvania, a state Republicans are HOPING to be able to put into play. And in Arizona, a state that Team Obama wants to put in play, a Republican bill nearing passage would require women “trying to get reimbursed for birth control drugs” through their employer-provided health plan “to prove that they are taking it for a medical reason such as acne, rather than to prevent pregnancy,” the AP says.

You know, if you only expect 70 year old males to turn out in the 2012 Presidential election, I'm sure this strategy is a winner. Otherwise...maybe not so much???

There's plenty of righties out here on the message board. Care to tell me what your compatriots are thinking?

"Just close your eyes"

Tom Corbett's motto as Attorney General, as he left Sandusky at large for 3 years while the Grand Jury investigated and let through another state grant of $3 million to the Second Mile last summer 2+ years into that investigation after taking the Governor's mansion.

GOP: elected on fiscal responsibility and the economy...legislate on social issues. It never changes. (well except for Santorum)

I *did* put a "poser" spin on it for a reason. :p
Those guys are two of the biggest hucksters going, right now. They do write well though.

ETA:
Oops-onomics
But there is more. In their flawed test, Messrs Donohue and Levitt seek to explain arrest totals (eg, the 465 Alabamans of 18 years of age arrested for violent crime in 1989), not arrest rates per head (ie, 6.6 arrests per 100,000). This is unsatisfactory, because a smaller cohort will obviously commit fewer crimes in total.

My dear boy

Does this bother you just a wee little bit??

http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/16/obama-admin-oks-using-aborted-babies-brains-in-lab-tests/

From the study:
HuCNS-SC were generated as previously described (Uchida et al., 2000; Tamaki et al., 2002). Briefly, donated second trimester (16–20 weeks) human brain tissue was dissected, enzymatically dispersed and labeled with CD133 and CD24 antibodies. The CD133+CD24−/lo target population was aseptically sorted using a Becton-Dickinson Vantage flow cytometer. Sorted cells were cultured in X-VIVO 15 medium supplemented with N2, heparin, N-acetyl cysteine, basic fibroblast growth factor, epidermal growth factor and leukemia inhibitory factor (complete medium) at a density of 105/mL. When neurosphere size reached 200–250 μm, cultures were passaged by collagenase treatment and re-plated in the same medium. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) was measured in HuCNS-SC cell lysates by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using the Quantikine human BDNF kit (R&D Systems), following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Dr. Mengele would be proud!

I can't believe I'm linking to Faux News, but one of my friends sent me this story that I think everyone needs to read.

Thanks, TimP. It's OK to post this one from Faux News because it's a liberal opinion piece. Furthermore, everyone needs to be reminded that our dear President is "the most compelling human" ever born to the race of men, and that's the only thing you need to know in this election. It should be a law that everyone has to vote for him.

Yeah, because the piece said that...
