Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

And we all know BC is the reason all this conference changing crap started. They should've been thankful they got picked for the Big East. Dave Gavitt initially wanted Holy Cross, but they turned him down.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

Nice to see # 14 team beat the #11 team and stay at #14. It's OK, though, we need some way to keep half of the SEC up there.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

I need to be fair. Sure all of their losses came against each other, but they have the combined OOC resume of Western Kentucky, Floria Atlantic, Buffalo, Florida Atlantic again, Bowling Green, LA-Lafayette, North Texas, Idaho, Towson, SMU, South Carolina St., LA Tech, East Carolina, UAB.

Here's the conference breakdown if you're interested:
Sun Belt - 5
MAC - 2
WAC - 2
CAA - 1
CUSA - 3
MEAC - 1

Oh, and Alabama beat Michigan. Wow, an actual BCS foe. How did that happen? I'm pretty sure they meant to schedule NMU or MTU and scheduled Michigan by accident.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

In the sake of accuracy, I left out LSU-Washington, so it is 2 for 16 so far, and 3 more will count from their remaining 8. So 5 for 24 when all is done.

Since PC was going to suck at basketball anyways, it probably doesn't matter to us as much any more.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

I missed it, but Minnesota actually became bowl eligible this week. The game against Illinois was really their last chance to, as I doubt they will beat Nebraska or Michigan State.

Two playoff games will rotate among 6 bowls. ACC/Big12/Big10/Pac12/SEC get auto-bids, and the best of BigEast/CUSA/MAC/MWC/SunBelt gets an autobid. These's something called "contract" bowls that set matchups for Orange(ACC vs Big10/SEC/ND)/Rose(Big10 vs Pac12)/Sugar(SEC vs Big12), and the other 3 are "host" bowls which must mean something but I have no idea. Championship game will be bid each year by the 6 bowls in question. 6 bowls are the 3 listed previously and likely Fiesta, Cotton, and Chick-Fil-A added to that list.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

I'll dig up an article I read on the secret bias of ESPN towards towards the SEC.. Fantastic read on how preseason poll sets SEC up to look so dominant.

Wow - that's pretty sneaky of them, and a pretty good smoke and mirrors trick. Without that, nobody would probably have ever dreamed that the conference with the following records might be considered dominant:

Last 6 BCS champs in a row
Won 8 out of 14 BCS championship games
Never lost a BCS championship game to another conference
16-7 in BCS games overall

Please don't make yourself look silly by claiming that my argument is circular just because it's the polls themselves that put the SEC teams in all those BCS games. If the polls were really unfairly biased toward the SEC, then they would be placing *unqualified* SEC teams into BCS games, and their record in BCS games would reflect the fact that they were in over their heads. However, that is clearly NOT the case - one game, two games, even three games can be flukes, but a 16-7 record is a very strong case that those SEC teams *did* belong there. Even a .500 record would be sufficient to make that case, and 0.695 is a slam dunk.
