2012-13 Union College Women's Hockey thread

Re: 2012-13 Union College Women's Hockey thread

The men's teams at Union and Yale winning put the women's teams (or coaches) in a very bad light.

Re: 2012-13 Union College Women's Hockey thread

“Yale men win national championship. Union men get to Final 8 this season and Final 4 last season. Remind me again why not having athletic scholarships prevents the Union women's team from being able to win a single game in ECAC?” -- HockeyEast33

“The men's teams at Union and Yale winning put the women's teams (or coaches) in a very bad light.” -- OneTimer

Who’s really put in a bad light at Union? Jim McLaughlin, Director of Athletics. Is it a case of his misplaced loyalty to an incompetent coach, or do he and the college blindly sacrifice a women’s team to obtain a Title 9 defense for the men’s hockey program?

Couple of comments:

- In another thread there were comments about whether Katie Burt would continue to develop if she stayed at BB&N (NE prep school). Given that 6 of the 12 goalies at the Strelow Camp this year are NE prep school products I would guess that she will (Burt, Hanson, Laing, Lundberg, Slebodnick, Wolejko).

- Also in another thread, somebody (Crosscheck?) said that Hanson was a nobody (or someting to that effect). I would suggest that 2 years at the Strelow Camp proves them wrong. BU has a winner here.
