Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Clearing cap space? Lombardi's 3.5 million for two more years, while Lebda/ECHL guy is 1.4 for one more year.

It was a salary dump, not so much to get beloe the Cap, but to stay within the organizations internal budget.

Actually, as of right now, Nashville has the lowest salary commitment of any team for next season. They have a lot of work to do to get to the cap floor. Expect to see Weber's deal get announced any day, and it will probably be in the 6.5-7.5M range. Getting to see him play live 25x a year, I can tell you he's worth every penny.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nashville pulls a surprise and signs Suter while they're at it.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Ah. Lombardi couldn't get insurance because of his concussion during the lockout. Therefore, even on IR, Nashville was stuck paying him. That makes it a dumbass signing last year that cost them a D-man.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Ah, yes, now the Preds' trade makes sense. They just signed Nicolas Bergfors for a year at 575K.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Whoa - McKenzie says Wild trade Havlat to San Jose for Heatley

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

I buy my first Wild related wear, and I buy a Havlat shirsey. Then he changes his number and now he is gone?! Looks like I need to buy a jersey.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

First thought: If Heatley starts skating to MN now, he'll be there in time for the playoffs in 2014. He made Douglas Murray look like Pavel Bure.

Second thought: I have no idea what DW is up to anymore.

Third thought: When Havlat gets hurt the 7th game of the season, I'm going to drive up to San Jose and punch DW in the nuts.

I don't know if we could tolerate the explosion of "Thornton was traded" threads.

but the lulz man, gotta do it for the lulz... invoking joe thornton just makes everybody into a comedian, its great!

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Huh. That's what I get for going to see fireworks on a non-4th of July.

Added speed to the top 6 forwards, save $2.5 million toward Burns and Couture next offseason, and still have $6.2 in cap space. Havlat has old shoulders issues, while I'd like to think Heatley still hasn't fully recovered from a groin injury in the 2010 playoffs, because otherwise he really is that ****ing slow.

Be kind of hard to skate there...it *is* July...
