Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

In a move that will surprise no one, Ehrhoff has supposedly rejected a multi-year deal from the Islanders reportedly worth around $5.5 million a season.

I'm guessing that under ordinary circumstances he would take that deal if it was offered by a contender, but with multiple teams after him this Friday and in this FA market, he knows that he is going get paid more than that.

and has subsequently had his rights sent to Buffalo in return for a 4th (original price paid by Isles).

The Panthers have tons of cap space...I hope they offer a max offer sheet to Stamkos. Tampa is on the hook for Vinny Lecav for 10 million, Malone and Ohlund for 5.5 million. Things could get very tight to the cap in Tampa.

How many 1st would the Panthers have to give up if Tampa let him walk in that case?

Blawkhawks sign Montador for 11 m/ 4 years

They traded Brian Campbell and cleared cap space for Steve Montador?

Obviously didn't watch him closely in Buffalo, but from what I remember, he was a train wreck during the playoffs for the Bruins a couple years ago.

I wonder if Gary Bettman will do this to prolong the NBA lockout. :D Replace teachers with NBA Players.

Ryan O'Byrne, ex of Cornell and the Habs, resigned today with the Avs for 2 years/3.6M total. That's a nice deal for a kid Montreal made a mistake on letting go.

Nice to see the Bruins having some fun with the Cup. They were kind enough to bring it to a fire station in Shrewsbury.

Unfortunately, that contract isn't. Another obvious cap circumvention.

Hmm doesn't seem too bad on the surface (although I wouldn't want my team signing him for 10 years)...how does it break down?
