2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Re: 2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Real crappy offense came back.
Mavhockey14, that's why I'm not a believer yet.

You do realize the Giants are the defending champions and have one of the best starting rotations in baseball, right?

Lincecum is one thing, Vogelsong is another.
Point is the offense still sucks and is way too inconsistent.
It was taking Herculean starting pitching for some of those wins during this run and that isn't going to hold up.
The offense needs to start pulling its weight.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Vogelsong has been lights-out for them so far. Prior to the game against MN, he was 4-1 with a sub-2 ERA.

However, I do agree that the offense needs to get better in general; then again, roughly half the lineup has been gone for massive periods of time. When the two cornerstones (Morneau and Mauer) either aren't producing or are injured, that pretty well tells the story of this team's batting futility. Those are a pair of .300+ hitters, and one of them typically hits around 30 HR/season. Trying to replace that with call-ups and substitutes is just not possible. It also doesn't help that one of the hitters who was on fire (Kubel) got hurt.

The fact this team managed to close the gap with Cleveland as much as it has with so many injuries to key players and no bullpen is nothing short of amazing, actually. :p

Morneau neck surgery....

Uh...what am I missing here? Wasn't it his wrist that was hurt?

He was having neck issues too.
Out till at least August.
I will say he was trying to play through his injuries which is admirable.

Guess he shouldn't have been wrestling bears.

Also in hindsight, the Twins should have traded him before he got the concussion. :p

I can't even keep up with the injuries on this squad anymore. That alone is a full time job (and one I would accept if paid enough!)

At least Delmon looks okay after running into the wall. He appears to be moving around at his normal pace.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Last year we were on pace for a record setting year with few errors. This year, without looking at numbers, we have to be top 4 in the league in terms of making errors.

I'd like the team with fewer errors, please.
