2011 Minnesota Offseason Thread

Re: 2011 Minnesota Offseason Thread

I think he might be bi-polar. A Palinite of sorts. I'm incredibly consistent. Bakunin's post proves that.

You and I don't always agree but I just thought the other individual's viewpoint on that topic was woefully off the mark. I'm surprised you waste any time on him if that is the kind of drivel that typically comes out of his posts. :o

It is what it is. I know for sure that Lucia is and always has been very stoic on the bench and that's all I tried to say.

He's not clever. He's just a giant douche.

Dear dxmnkdsjdjf079589484387387383

I totally understand why you would be attracted to that image considering all the trouser snakes you've hosed this year.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Offseason Thread

The Rau-Bjugstad-Budish line is going to be fun to watch if the keep them together. They didn't find the back of the net, but they had plenty of opportunities. I don't think Rau is going to have much of a transition period to this level, or much of a problem with the transition to wing if they keep him there. They did play him at center a bit on that line near the end, so it will be interesting to see how that shakes out. The kid has such great vision, and such a high hockey IQ, and isn't afraid to stick his nose in and take a hit. He was also one of our more physical players tonight. Defense looked good. Marshall is a high skill guy, and is good with the puck. Loved seeing our Defensemen pinch in and help out on offense and create some chances. Thompson and Alt have really heavy shots. Holl had a few too many blocked from the point. Needs to move his feet a bit more, but he looked good. Very confident. So did Student. Warning is as advertised. High skill guy with a lot of speed and good puck skills. I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, but a very good night all around IMO! Very excited to get the regular season under way!

A Sound Defensive Game

Under returning assistant coach Mike Guentzel, the Gopher defensive corps looked to be much improved overall. Tonight's group of Seth Helgeson, Justin Holl, Mark Alt, Ben Marshall, Jake Parenteau, Blake Thompson, and Chris Student help hold British Columbia no shots on goal in the first period.

More Improvement on the Blueline

The defensemen were also aggressive offensively, making several rushes into the offensive zone. The Gophers attempted a lot of shots from the point and players like Mark Alt, Justin Holl, Ben Marshall, and Chris Student were not afraid to carry the puck deep into the offensive zone.

Filling the Aaron Ness Void

Speaking of Marshall, the Mahtomedi-native looked like a valid replacement for Aaron Ness on the blueline. Though he is one of the team's smallest defenders, he showed that he can make up for his lack of size with quick bursts on the backcheck and good anticipation. He also showed the ability to make opponents miss while making rushes up the ice and displayed his superb vision on with a couple blueline-to-blueline passes.

Replacing Cepis?

Jacob Cepis was good goal-scorer and a pesky player to deal with last year--certainly a player who will be hard to replace. However, two of the Gophers' freshman forwards, Kyle Rau and Sam Warning, showed some promising similarities to Cepis tonight. Both players showed a fearlessness that will help them deal with the physical WCHA style of play as well as a few signs of playmaking ability. Warning tallied an assist on Jake Hansen's game-winning goal.*

Goaltending

Though they weren't tested much, the Minnesota goaltenders showed they will be up to the task this season. Kent Patterson wasn't fazed by the absence of shots faced in the first period and stopped all three shots he faced, while Mike Shibrowski turned way all seven Thunderbird shots that came his way. The highlight of the night between the pipes was Shibrowski's save on a Cole Wilson one-timer in the second period that forced the Colorado College transfer to move quickly across the crease.

Turd sandwich seems more fitting.

I can see how you would be attracted to that kind of image. I've always pictured you as a skinny, insecure lunch pail type of guy searching for online friends who are also addicted to pornography.

I suppose. D*uche implies he can get within arms reach of vag.

The d word again. dxmskfjdsjsj94948388382 is obviously gay with a rather large starfish. I read somewhere that a lot of engineering types like him are closet cross dressers too. I guess it's really true, not that there's anything wrong with that. Probably had daddy issues.

You are a seriously troubled man. Seek help. Immediately.

This is really eye opening but a little sad too. It reminds me again of article that went on to say that denial and victim blaming is usually the first response when their true sexual identity is made public.

Wow, you're the second person I've put on ignore tonight.

Well there you have it folks. I thought this would happen.

Well, good luck to the Gophers and Coach Lucia, Coach Guentzel, and Coach Potulny (sounds weird calling him Coach Potulny:eek:). I miss being out there.

I think he proved that at the Xcel several years ago. I thought he got help, but I guess it didn't take. Very sad, seemed like a smart, talented kid from a great family.:(
