The Game 1 anthem was the loudest of the year. Until Game 2 (which I'm sure got a bit of a boost from the fact that it was Memorial Day). The building is nearly full almost 45 minutes before puck drop, and the team has received a standing ovation just coming out for warmups each night, and the crowd has then remained on their feet throughout the warmup.Does this mean you attended Game 1 and Game 2 in person? If so, wicked jealous. How great was the atmosphere?
Lidstrom has re-upped with Detroit. 1 year, $6.2 million.
And he voluntarily took a $1.5 million pay cut to help the Wings with cap space.

He agreed to a fair cut and, most importantly, didn't subject us to this year's thin pool of FA defensemen. I'm happy.

The atmosphere is thrillingly electric throughout the building for the whole time up until the lights go out and the pre-game videos start, at which point it ratchets up another level. The crowd hasn't displayed the tension that was evident through the first two rounds (not so much with a 2-0/3-0 lead vs. San Jose), and has risen to the occasion when necessary. Unfortunately they're still too quick to be negative about missed passes and opportunities on the power-play, which I'll contend has a lot to do with the poor PP execution at home versus the road this year.
Ask Scarlet to fill you in, I've been to more than a few games this year.
Good to see that the ratings are WAY up for the Finals. Also, I heard on a local sports show that former owners of the Whalers want hockey back in Hartford.

me last thread said:Huh. In hindsight, I blame the title of this thread. 1st two threads had mocking references to Sharks in it. This one is all Chicago, like the 3rd round. So y'all need to be racing each other to start the 4th one with whoever you want to win the cup.
Did anyone else find it really annoying with the whistling during last night's game?
Muwuahahahahahahahhahahha.
Moe, you've just given Pronger another Stanley Cup.
I hope they keep playing Carcillo - the referees seem to have gotten sick of his antics of snapping his head back with every face wash.....I think he is a huge distraction for Filthy-delphia.![]()
I can't imagine why. I mean, if you were the ref, and you watched him, all in one sequence, slash a player, wrap his arm around the guy's neck, then give him a jab in the face, only to have him whine about the call when you give him a penalty... Actually, I can see that being incredibly tiresome.
while i never reffed anyone like pronger, I can attest that eventually all that crap from players becomes 'noise' and you start to phase it out. You'll have one sided conversations with players sometimes, but I suspect anyone on the NHL level is very full of themselves and only partially takes stripes seriously. on the other hand, other guys will listen so having those conversations is worth it even if you only get through to 10% of the guys you talk too. From personal experience, I reffed Ed Caron (former UNH varsity player for those who don't know) once and he was very respectful to the stripes so you gotta take the good w/ the bad.
Pronger seems like a *****, but part of it is for show. When you have a ring and are one of the best Dmen in the league, it must get to your head. At the end of the day, I would rather have him on my team than play against him.
