2010 NCAA Lax Tournament: Blackmail 7-7 Hopkins Style

Wardy

Another brick in the wall
The selections for this year's NCAA lacrosse tournament will be announced tonight and the drama rests with whether Johns Hopkins 38 year tournament streak will survive a comically mediocre 7-7 season. The best thing Hopkins has to offer is that they've been rolled by the 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 13, and Navy. Hopkins "most impressive" victories were in the snow over Delaware 2nd week of the season and at perpetual tease Loyola in the last week of the season.

Of course unranked Hopkins will make the tournament simply out of history and screw over either Drexel or Yale.

The screw-job begins at 8:30 pm tonight on ESPN-U.

Gee, Wardy. Someone not like the Cuse? I don't like the fact they get a possible showdown with Cornell is Round 2. They are so familiar with each other.

I'm calling a Hopkins upset in Round 1. They will be all over them like a Mike Nifong subpeona. :D

Sorry... had to do it.

I think he had Army in bold because he was bolding hockey schools.

We're bound to beat Syracuse some time!

Why would Princeton possibly go to Stony Brook and Stony Brook possibly go to Princetion?

Because they posted the TV bracket wrong. It's been since corrected so if those schools do advance, they'll play at home in the second round as bracket hosts.

As a Pioneer fan, it would have been cool to host a first round game, but at least DU has beaten Stony Brook in NY this year, so there is a familiarity factor.

Next time somebody complains about the 500 mile rule in D-III, look @ this trip in D-III women's:

5/12/10 Endicott (MA) @ Claremont-M-S (CA) 9PM ET

Winner plays 5/15/10 @ 2:30 PM back on the East Coast in Salibury, MD.

If Endicott wins on Wednesday, can we say jet lag?

They still get a full day and half to rest back east after their plane ride home on the 13th. Not too terrible.

Fraud Hopkins getting worked by Duke.

So Evil will win the Evil v. Evil match-up.

Re: 2010 NCAA Lax Tournament: Blackmail 7-7 Hopkins Style

Cornell beats Loyola in triple OT on a goal by a long pole D-man.

Re: 2010 NCAA Lax Tournament: Blackmail 7-7 Hopkins Style

That was more difficult than it needed to be. Cornell's offense was nonexistent after halftime.

Re: 2010 NCAA Lax Tournament: Blackmail 7-7 Hopkins Style

Denver hung tough but dropped a 9-7 decision to Stony Brook. SB will now get to play the winner of UVA-Mount at home for the right to go to Baltimore.

UVA-Mount coming up now.

Re: 2010 NCAA Lax Tournament: Blackmail 7-7 Hopkins Style

Did you hear that something happened at Virginia? I don't think ESPN has mentioned it.

Re: 2010 NCAA Lax Tournament: Blackmail 7-7 Hopkins Style

ESPNU just broadcasted the UVA-Towson women's lax game. I'm suprised that ESPN was able to find a couple of commentators that could call a women's lacrosse game (which might be THE most boring sport to watch ever).

Next-up the only NCAA match-up between two hockey schools: Notre Dame vs. Princeton.

Re: 2010 NCAA Lax Tournament: Blackmail 7-7 Hopkins Style

Down go Syracuse and Princeton. Interesting second day.
