Yes, he is there as an invitee... He is not drafted... But it remains very exciting for the kid!

Go House Go!

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Because I'm lazy and don't feel like calling the ticket office, are there packages for 3 or 4 home games you can purchase? I don't want season tix but would like to lock in a few home games. Thanks :)

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Since the fiscal year ends June 30, season ticket renewals are not sent out until the beginning of the next fiscal year - so that funds are not comingled.

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Didn't we all have to renew our season tickets by June 30th last season? Whats different about this "fiscal" year?

The fiscal year has always been the same for as long as I can remember. The U doesn't want 2010/11 revenues to come in until the 2010 fiscal year is complete. We usually have through July until sometime in August to pay for the tickets.

What's the rush? They have long enough to hang onto our $$...:D

You must pay the IRS in January????:p

Just wondering that's all.

From Rachel Lenzi:

per Maine AD Blake James, Maine hockey coach Tim Whitehead will receive a 3-year contract extension

Let the bitching begin.

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Congrats to Coach Whitehead. Despite what some may say, he clearly deserves the extension based on his performance and program/team results.

Let's get back to St. Paul in 2011 to complete some unfinished business (and my wife calls me a pessimist!).

I'll say this, you guys should be excited about the team you have coming back. Is Darling still around?

The U needs to work on it's accounting if it can't handle cross-fiscal year revenue. Perhaps they should call the Business School and talk to one of the accounting Profs?

Based on what performance and results? Must be the 12 games under .500 for the last 3 years.

But they almost beat BC in the HE title game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta agree with you there. Seems Timmay is getting credit for this coming season which hasn't even happened yet. UML fans can attest to things not exactly going according to plan when they thought they were on the verge of world domination coming into the past season with their roster.

That being said... nice, nice guy and I'm happy for him.

To be completely fair, it was a season-long thing. This team was actually interesting to watch. They could skate, for instance. :p It was refreshing to have an entire season when scoring a 2nd goal to get a 2-1 lead didn't qualify as an offensive explosion. :)

The staff is obviously addressing the situation w/ goaltending...

I'd still be happier with a 1yr extension, with the possibility of 3 after the end of 2010-2011.

But the weather's too nice to complain very loudly. From my perspective, Maine hockey did a lot more right last season than just finishing 2 games over .500. Whitehead was in charge during that time . . . so fair is fair.

The last 3 years have been great:p

Season ticket application in the mail today, they must be confident Gus is coming back because they mention it many times in the brochure

He's kept Maine competitive since he's been there even though he's had to compete on and off the ice with BC, BU, and UNH for the most part. I think he's earned an extension, but I dont see him returning Maine to the Walsh glory days as long as the other teams in the east remain strong.
