2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

Re: 2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

Because I originally scheduled it during the Tech vs. GVSU football game. Where at least of the managers were at...

Ok. Was wondering, because I was afraid of Yahoo overload because of FFL and the fact football was on.

Re: 2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

:( Oh well, it was impressive that he played as well as he did after being away for that long.

I guess I may as well drop him then...I think I'll pick up an Islander, they're supposed to be good this year, right?
You might as well pick up Teslak. He'll do as much good for your team as anyone else you can find.

That is probably true, though you know that there are guys that are FA now that will end up being very productive this year. There are breakout players every year.

Re: 2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

In the middle of the night last night another league that I'm in did it's autodraft (no option for me to make my own picks:mad: ). It is a keeper league, where I'm filling in for a guy that didn't want to play this year, so I inherited his team. Lets just say that he had a terrible team for me to poach 4 keepers from.

The 4 keepers I chose were: (yes, these were his 4 best players)
Daniel Briere, F
Derek Roy, F
Brian Campbell, D
Ryan Miller, G

The rest of the team I ended up with is:
Rick Nash, F
Nicklas Backstrom, F
Patrick Marleau, F
Blake Wheeler, F
Travis Zajac, F
Milan Michalek, F
David Clarkson, F
Ryane Clowe, F
Michael Frolik, F
Alex Tanguay, F
Andrei Kostitsyn, F
Phil Kessel, F

Mike Green, D
Pavel Kubina, D
Joni Pitkanen, D
Ville Koistinen, D
Mathieu Schneider, D

Jonas Hiller, G
Steve Mason, G

I think I'm set in goal with Miller, Hiller and Mason. Forwards are OK, could be better, but I won't complain. My D is terrible after the top 3 guys, I've got waiver claims in to try to get Jovanovski and Tyutin to try to improve my D.

Re: 2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

I have a draft tomorrow night, but it starts at 6:15. I'll probably end up missing the whole thing. :(

My team will be, uh, interesting. I preranked a few players, but if I get them all........hooboy. It'll be bad. As in really bad.

That's not too bad of a roster, especially if +/- is a stat category.Throw Kessel on the IR ASAP (I'm waiting on this in one of my leagues too...) and pick up another decent forward and I'd say you're set.

I have Kessel on the IR already, but 2 of my chitty d-men are also out right now. I have 3 waiver claims in, that won't be processed until Friday. I had the last pick, so I get the 1st waiver claim. I have to start 6 d-men, and I only have 6, so since 2 are out, I really need to add some there.

My first waiver, the one I'm guaranteed to get, is to fill the empty spot for Kessel being on IR, and that is to pick up Fedor Tyutin, D.

My second waiver is to drop Schneider, D and pick up Ed Jovanovski, D.

My third waiver is to drop Ville Koistinen, D and pick up Kim Johnsson, D.

(I have a hunch that Kim Johnsson is going to have a big year after getting out from under Lemaire's system, he will put up some good offensive numbers this season)

Re: 2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

I have another draft tonight...8 team league, so there may actually be some players around in the last few rounds. :D

Well, the league I was drafting for tonight (in which I missed the whole draft, AND only 6 teams joined up anyway  ) I got some hella-goalies: Marty, Nabby, and Hiller. But after that......sheesh. I mean, obviously I got some great players, but I expected 12 teams drafting, so if I knew then what I know now.....I wouldn't have bothered pre-ranking anyone but goalies. League might just fold up anyways since 6 teams is weak.

Re: 2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

Drafted 3rd...

C: Eric Staal
C: Jason Spezza
LW: Zach Parise
LW: Alex Burrows
RW: Johan Franzen
RW: Brad Boyes
D: Shea Weber
D: Nicklas Lidstrom
D: Brian Rafalski
D: Dennis Wideman
G: Henrik Lundqvist
G: Ryan Miller

BN: Patrick O'Sullivan
BN: Kimmo Timmonen
BN: Travis Zajac
BN: Jon Quick

I think I drafted better in this league then in the USCHO league...then again, there were still players in the later rounds...:p

Re: 2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

In my ESPN league, my waivers went through and I got all three defensemen that I claimed. My D looks a little better now with:

Mike Green
Brian Campbell
Pavel Kubina
Joni Pitkanen
Ed Jovanovski
Fedor Tyutin
Kim Johnsson

And for some reason someone in my league dumped Marion Gaborik, David Booth and Erik Cole. I put in claims for Gabby and Booth. As much as I dislike The Glass Groin, he has too much talent to not try to get on my team.

Re: 2009 NHL Fantasy Hockey

3rd post in a row...

The guys I'm playing against must really suck at life. I was able to make some more moves, now my roster looks like this:

Forwards:
Danny Briere
Rick Nash
Marion Gaborik
Patrick Marleau
Derek Roy
David Booth
Niklas Backstrom
Blake Wheeler
Travis Zajac
Phil Kessel
Milan Michalek
Ryane Clowe
Michael Frolik
Alex Tanguay

Defense:
Mike Green
Brian Campbell
Pavel Kubina
Joni Pitkanen
Ed Jovanovski
Kim Johnsson
Fedor Tyutin

Goalies:
Ryan Miller
Jonas Hiller
Steve Mason

I think I have a pretty **** good team now.
