Re: 2009-2010 UNH Wildcats Season
I have to imagine that the players got an earful after the game Friday. Play against Lowell was a sometime thing but last night they took immediate advantage against a team that is clearly struggling. Two goals in less than a minute, then another two at the end of the first period, and the game was over. UNH did a pretty good job of neutralizing Marcou and Wellman, the two who basically are UMass' whole offense. They played great in transition and had UMass back on their heels most of the night. You don't want to take too much from the game, but UNH did the things they needed to do, did them consistently (very important) and did them well.
A four point lead on Maine, five on BC heading into the non-conference game vs. Dartmouth. Nice to know they can't be headed before they play at Providence a week from Friday. That starts a stretch when UNH has only one game (Merrimack) at the Whit over the next month. Four games against the bottom three teams in the standings, then what could be a battle for first place at Maine (who would have thought that!). I am getting way ahead of myself here, but it is clear that UNH is getting into the most important stretch of the season so far.
