2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

What a huge huge huge win

So glad I travelesd all the way down for tonights game

All last summer I kept saying how our d should be the rock of our team

And most of this season I have been diappointed

Well, they showed up in spades the last two games

Congrats to the cats. Congrats to madore on a great OT. Congrats to anctil on a huge goal

Congrats to the cats

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

Madore stepped it up big time. Sneddon made an incredible series adjustment after game one, and the team executed the plan to perfection. Block shots, clog the shooting lanes, and keep most of unh's shots to the outside. Phenomenal effort and series win.

No, actually you're not. Bemidji got upset in the CHA playoffs. They're definitely making the NCAAs as an at large. So three teams are coming from the two "minor" conferences. So you're actually first one out.

How do you get first one out? UAH, (and let's say RIT) that's 16 and 15. If there are no other upsets that leaves 14 as the entry point. That said if UVM loses to BC I don't see how they can get in . They MUST beat BC or they are done..

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

The way I see it, even if UVM loses to BC, as long as BC wins HE, Cornell wins ECAC, Denver wins WCHA and Miami wins CCHA, cats will be in at 11 with a 3 seed. Hope they just knock off the superfans and that will solve it all... Would love to see a Maine VT final...

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

I cannot think of a more successful weekend for Vermont collegiate sports. Both UVM basketball teams in the dance, UVM hockey to the Garden, both Norwich mens and womens hockey teams to the d3 frozen four. Guess I'll be heading to the Garden next weekend.:D

Congrats Vermont on gutting out two huge wins on the road (after only winning 2 games in that building all time, I believe?) and making it to the semis. Best of luck moving forward!

If that was UNH's last game and I do hope its not I feel bad for the Seniors who to play their last game in front of what might have been the smallest crowd they had in their careers. Was something else big going on in Durham last night? I went to both reg season games and the place was full.

No, people down here are just ****ing spoiled fair weather fans who didn't want to spend the money to watch their team play one more time. Too many UNH fans still assume too much about the quarterfinals.

Congrats on a big win.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

Thanks UNH fans. I hope you are able to sneak into the NCAAs.

There is a decent chance that Hockey East could end up with one team in the NCAAs?

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

Congrats to Coach Sneddon and the coaching staff, the support staff, and especially, the UVM hockey faithful. They did what they needed to do when visiting UNH, and that is NOT to let them throw that fish on the ice!!!!!!

Good luck in the Hockey East Tournament!

As mentioned on the attendance thread, Quarterfinals are always poorly attended (For the first 2 games, UNH still had the most fans in the 4 hockey east games). The combination of a 3rd game in 3 nights, and awful weather (we almost got blown off the highway driving back home). It was the fewest fans in a home game, but when you play lots of games in Providence and Merrimack, it wasn't the smallest crowd in their career...

Another note, I really enjoyed coach Sneddon applauding the UVM section several times before they left the ice, he seems like a really good dude on top of a great coach.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

After Friday's game, I laid the blame for the loss on Madore.

Talk about responding to a tough outing a positive way. On Saturday night, he was tested a few times, but nothing out of this world.

last night, several times i thought the game was over, and Madore stuck out his pad, or made the bid glove save. He was outstanding.

Now, on to the Garden. I think to guarantee themselves a shot at the big ice dance, they need to knock off BC at 5 pm on Friday.

I will be there (been to 7 of the last 9 games this season) and no reason to not be there.

Anyone else going to be there?

UNH actually has a decent shot to be a 3 seed in the NCAA's, a lot would have to go wrong to knock them completely out (though its not improbable).

Pairwise predictor is up,

http://www.uscho.com/rankings/pwp.php

UVM does not need to beat BC to get in, but in that case they would need a bit of help. They beat BC and everything falls into place and they are in.

BC is scary. They are super talented and have played great throughout the year. That said UVM did win the season series so its not unreasonable to think UVM can go to the Garden and win.

Especially if Madore plays the way he did the past two games. Just unbelievable. UNH has a great team and they will make the NCAA's, RS champs, have owned UVM forever and UVM went and shutout UNH 2 games in a row at home.......never been done. This UVM team can play with anyone in the country.....when they show up.

The UML weekend was a bit of a stinker, but overall UVM has played well for the most part lately. I think BC has to be the favorite especially in the post season, but here's hoping York and the BC boys take the game for granted.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread : The Sequel

I love hockey east

Nice call on the VT in 3......

Amazing comeback by Madore and some great OT saves. Incredible to hold UNH to no goals in 7 periods of Hockey. I feel bad for the Fish Guy!! VT deserved that win and I felt outplayed UNH 90% of that game last night winning puck battles and being the first to the puck all night. Was surprised they came away from the second empty handed. UNH's only offense seemed to be the counter attack as they rarely got setup in the O zone. Onto the Garden!!!
