Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

What justification do they have for showing a meaningless Ottawa - Buffalo game on the NHL Network and dumping the Leafs - Canadiens game to a non-HD Center Ice Channel?

Because Nottawa and Buffalo are in the playoffs? ;)

You had to bring that up, didn't you? :p

I'm pretty sure I know which game all you guys who DO have teams that are in - or close to being in - would rather be watching. ;)

Ottawa and Buffalo have a... er, history between them.

Not like the history of two of the Original Six! :p

Dunno if this has been mentioned, but Wild telecast said the 2011 draft will be hosted at Xcel Energy Center.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

The East as of right now.

1) Washington
2) NJ--will stay there if they get a point tomorrow.
3) Buffalo--will overtake NJ and finish 2nd if they defeat the Devils in regulation.
4) Pittsburgh
5) Ottawa
6) Boston
7) Montreal. Will stay in 7th if NYR wins tomorrow. Finishes 8th if Philly wins.
8) Philly. Will jump to 7th win a win tomorrow. Out of playoffs with any kind of loss.
9) NYR. Will pass Philly with a win tomorrow. Out of playoffs with any kind of loss.

Evander Kane one-punch KOs Matt Cooke...

Good.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

Evander "Holyfield" Kane.

Cooke should've known better than to mess with the 18 year-old son of a boxer. :D

The best part of all this is that Kane was getting abused all evening because he dared to deliver a legal hit on Cindy Crysob, who responded by taking a cross-checking minor and things just sort of snowballed from there.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

Mike Modano was voted first star at the Wild/Stars game tonight and came out in a North Stars jersey. Pretty cool.

I don't hope Cooke is okay. Eat it, beech. That was beautiful.

Wow! Karma, indeed.

Two things come to mind:
1) Kane showed class by holding Cooke's sweater to keep his head from hitting the ice
2) Grapes will love how the youngster abided by "the code." ;)

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

The winner of today's Sabres-Devils game gets either the Flyers or Canadiens. The loser gets the Bruins.

A Devils-Bruins series would be lethal on television.

ESPN would show exclusive highlights and say "This is why we don't talk hockey anymore. No one wants to see this."

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

Jack Edwards is still insufferable, though.

You act like that would ever not be the case? It's bizarre. he's a giant homer, but he also occasionally acts like he's rooting against the team he's covering. And all in his own bizarre language no one else understands. he's original: you have to give him that...

I want to agree, but Devils-Canes wasn't too godawful last year. Of course, Lemaire wasn't coaching the Devils.
