20 years of Simpsons... Some fave quotes

Re: 20 years of Simpsons... Some fave quotes

I dont know why but in the episode when all the Swedes (or is it Norwegians) move to Springfield and the kids do the ski jump but with skateboards and the one kid says "Sooo many meters" always makes me laugh.

This was the first thing I thought of when you mentioned that episode:

Milhouse: Minnesota Vikings apparel? This is Tennessee Titans territory!

Another favorite one from that same episode:

Marge Simpson: You lost your job?
Homer Simpson: It's not my fault! Those barleyjacks filled me up with their liqueurs and liquors, but mostly the liqueurs.

Another sports fave:

Bart and Milhouse are playing baseball.

Bart: Look at me! I'm Tomakahzu Ohka of the Montreal Expos.
Milhouse: I'm Esteban Yan of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

(In typical Yan fashion, he serves up a home run.)

Burns, "I'm supposed to be shooting at the Nazis?? That's not the way I remember it."

Burns to Homer, "You sold weapons grade plutonium to Iraqis! WITH NO MARK-UP!"

It's amazing how the Simpsons have outlived the sports names they've referenced. If you think of the names on Mr Burns' softball game from the classic episode about corporate softball ringers... Steve Sax, Darryl Strawberry...

Milhouse: Minnesota Vikings apparel? This is Tennessee Titans territory!
I thought it was interesting in the Israel episode from this year that they revealed that Homer is such a Carolina Panthers fan. Just so random.

For a lower middle class family, the Simpsons are very well traveled. Countries they've visited that I can think of off the top of my head...
Australia (Ambassador: "Disparaging the boot is a bootable offense.")
Brazil
France (Homer: "Here, I'm not a fat slob! I'm a gourmande!")
England
Ireland
Japan (Marge: "I'd like to see the Japanese take on the club sandwich.")
China (Sign in Tienanmen Square: "On This Site, in 1989, Nothing Happened")
Cuba (Burns: "Batista's gone, you say?")
East Africa
Italy
India
Israel
Canada
Mexico (briefly)

Some other great internationally minded Simpsons quotes..

This one is almost definitely a repost but is very deserving:
Homer: Canada? Why would I want to leave America to visit America Junior?

Burns: We wish to take up residence in your socialist paradise.
Castro: You are talking about Cuba?

I've not seen that one, I don't think. I assume it's not the same as when Bart became a hero during the exchange student program?

It was the somewhat recent episode where they were sent to prison because they were insufficiently patriotic. They staged a song and dance show in prison, escaped and were picked up by a French freighter. They then re-immigrated on a boat and the episode ended with Neil Diamond's "America".

Wasn't their best work.

I loved the exchange that the two spy kids have when they sent the North Korean kid back to get the other American kid back.

Re: 20 years of Simpsons... Some fave quotes

Sideshow Bob: Rakes, my old arch enemy.
Bart: But I thought I was your archenemy.
Sideshow Bob: I have a life outside of you, Bart.

Not a quote, but: loved Bret and Jemaine from Flight of the Conchords in last week's episode. :)

Re: 20 years of Simpsons... Some fave quotes

The Arthur Fortune episode was on a few nights ago:

Marge: Oh, come on! Let's go for a walk. This family is getting so lazy!
Bart: I'm not lazy, I'm just ... um ... uh ... Lisa, finish my sentence for
me.
Lisa: Why don't you finish your own darn ... [falls asleep and rolls off the couch]
