Indeed. It was a great hockey game in general. A 1-2 loss is a lot better looking then a 5 goal loss earlier in the season. I'm not sure Potsdam is up at the elite level yet, but they played tough, hard, and never really gave up all night. A loss is still a loss, but improvements have been made. Very impressed with the discipline and just overall general work ethic of the Bears. Again, not sure I'm set to put them as a "top" team but...

A few thoughts on the nights:

1. -25 to -30 all night long reminds me exactly why I moved from the North Country, but hey..thanks for the fire alarm. No one in the press box was leaving, I surely wasn't. Selleck was in Syracuse a few days ago.....
2. First time back at Maxy since the reno, decent ....but another fine example of how stadium seating kills atmosphere. Besides the few old-times blowing their air horns and the one guy who must think every Potsdam players last name is "Bear" (as in go get 'em Bear), it was pretty blah.
3. Artificial noisemakers allowed (for now) at Maxy .... +1 SUNY Potsdam! But when it's the majority of your noise I guess you need it? Just don't be mad when the SUNYAC powers come in and take them away.
4. National Anthem...Playing the Canadian Anthem always a +1 in my books, but DUDE this isn't The Voice or American Idol. This isn't the Super Bowl where overpaid musicians attempt to change the Anthem for the better and end up being made fun of the next day. I'm singing the Canadian Anthem in my head, and I have zero clue where he went with it. While I am not as fluent in French as much anymore, something was not right there....And the American Anthem...ummm any Crane student or Alumni would cringe at that "rendition" ....sing the song the way its suppose to be sang. Great voice, just no clue what he was trying to do.

Well at least you didn't complain about the PA guy. ;)

A little more here.

Dave P. Deluliis, Franklin Pierce University communications manager, said in a phone interview Friday that the institution’s senior staff was made aware of the incident, and then reported it to local law enforcement as required by state law on Feb. 4.
Rindge police reported to university officials that there wouldn’t be a criminal investigation and that they could move forward with their own internal investigation, Deluliss said. That investigation began earlier this week, he said.
No one suffered injuries as a result of the reported hazing, and it was limited to the men’s hockey team, he said. He declined to provide further details, citing the investigation.
Phone messages left for men’s hockey coach Bruce Marshall, Kirsh and the Rindge Police Department Friday afternoon weren’t returned by press time.
Marshall is in his first year of coaching the team, which became an NCAA sanctioned program at the university in 2002.
However, university officials continue to investigate some portions of the incident to determine violations to the student athletic code and the student code of conduct, he said.
“Based on the information (university officials) had as of last evening, they felt it was a serious enough matter to warrant the cancellation of the season,” he said Friday. “In large part they want to send a message to everyone on campus that this is an issue we take seriously.”
