13th annual USCHO fantasy baseball league

Re: 13th annual USCHO fantasy baseball league

My last two picks sent me from a projected 5th place to 14th place finish, so that was a little uneasy. I figured it was all throwaway picks at that point, especially with the amount of teams in the league.

Also, anyway we could change division names? I don't have any ideas but Division 1 and 2 is pretty bland.

I was going to do throwaway picks at the end, but then I figured what the hey, Ruben Tejada will be there for me all summer. :)

Oh, and to the guy who took R. A. Dickey two picks before me, may you burn in hell...

Re: 13th annual USCHO fantasy baseball league

I've got some basic questions, so I'll take a pointer to an RTFM if you prefer. Do all my players count in every game, or is there a distinction between being in the lineup vs on the bench.

What is the distinction between utility and bench? Is utility just a requirement they be position players analagous to the 3 Ps, whereas bench can be either?

Where do I read about trading and waivers?

Thanks.

Re: 13th annual USCHO fantasy baseball league

I have some huge question marks that could burn me - unproven guys or guys returning from injuries.

Wieters, Werth, Verlander, and Bailey are probably starting the season on the DL. Rodon and Tomas are starting in the minors. First couple weeks are gonna suck. Team's not great on paper. I'm going to practice my motivational speeches for the locker room. I already have the Kate Upton peel-off cutout. :p

BUT I do have Jordan Zimmermann in a contract year. ;) And I think Segura's going to have a rebound year.

And I am really glad Lucroy gets a few games at first, because I don't have any other first basemen.

Last year I had the starting rotation sent directly from the heavens above (in a normal year), and most of them blew or got hurt.

Bench players do not count in that day's stats - utility players do, and they can be any position.

You can change lineup every day. Stats for players on bench will not count. Yahoo allows until game time to make changes. Personally, my hitters rarely change but I check daily pitching matchups to be sure the day's starters aren't on my bench.

Utility is merely a way to get extra bats into the day's lineup. They can be any position. It's also the only way to utilize a player defined exclusively by Yahoo as a DH (David Ortiz comes to mind)...

All trades and waivers are posted to the site. Check your settings, as there should be a way to receive email alerts for all league transactions.

I'd like to note that for all my reminders about the draft, I nodded off while putting my kids to bed and missed the whole thing. Should be a great season. A-thank you very much.

Re: 13th annual USCHO fantasy baseball league

Is the 'swap inactive players' button new or did I just never notice it? Kind of handy.

I have several players starting the season on the DL (or in the minors), but they're still listed as Active, so I can't replace them. Looks like we only have 2 DL spots anyway.

Josh Harrison, I am not giving up on you. don't make me regret it :p

my team sucks.

Re: 13th annual USCHO fantasy baseball league

Pirates are not playing well and not scoring runs. I think you need Eddie Rosario! :)

Which is surprising, given the Pirates lineup. Harrison has been given two weeks' notice to improve his play, or he'll be dumped from the Suitcases. I don't think last year was a fluke, but he's waaaaaay below the Mendoza Line.

I forgot to start Wily Peralta yesterday, and he had a great game. Doh!

I already have my team name for next year - Gennett's Loofah. I think Gennett's Shower Puffs might be too long.

Re: 13th annual USCHO fantasy baseball league

As long as my pitching staff holds up I have a shot, because all I really have offensively is Miggy and A. Gonzalez.
