#12 UNH vs. #15 Northeastern: 10/26-27

When I first read "plodding UNH team" my brain processed it as aimless. I don't recall UNH being slow and certainly not since the lake opened. But the last few years it was fast for the sake of being fast, there didn't seem to be much point.

This year’s team is fast but focused. They are going somewhere (to the front of the net when they have the puck) fast.

I am honestly still waiting to see if the bad habits of the last few years are gone or if they will come back. Being a long time UNH fan I am programmed to expect the other shoe to drop at some point - typically when it will hurt the most so March/April.

... and Maine does suck, but I am actually starting to feel sorry for them...

You nailed it. The difference seems to be the willingness, AND ability, to finish. I'm stoked about the blue line play as well.

And Maine? Well, their thread has devolved into an argument over which team (track and field or hockey) gets more schwag. I love the rivalry, but it's a little early for that nonsense.

By the way, are BOTH games on FCS this weekend, or just tonight's matchup?

Re: #12 UNH vs. #15 Northeastern: 10/26-27

Could someone tell me what we can expect for video quality if we buy the game from UNH website? Thanks.

Do you have access to FoxCollegeSports nationally or WBIN locally? FoxCollegeSports Atlantic will show the game (from the online feed) live as will WBIN locally.

It's a good feed, improved. My biggest problem with it is the darkness of the video, but the quality is good, much better than a couple of years ago...

I am a long-term fan as well and caution myself that we often start strong and then seem to deteriorate post Christmas. However, to date this team has shown speed, plays well together, has a better than average forecheck, and goes to the front of the net with reckless abandon; really fun to watch. Time will tell.........

Just tried to line up my DVR to record FCS tonight. Showing AA vs. UND instead. Disappointing.

It looks like you're recording the wrong FCS channel. There are three FCS channels. The AA v. UND game is on FOX College Sports (Central), which is channel 623 on DirecTV. The NU v. UNH game is on FOX College Sports (Atlantic), which is channel 626 on DirecTV.

Basically, flip through the three FCS channels to find the games.
Fox College Sports (Atlantic): Channel 626 DirecTV
Fox College Sports (Central): Channel 608 DirecTV
Fox College Sports (Pacific): Channel 623 DirecTV

Random thoughts:Tough loss,Rawlings arrgh, where is Karlsson?,Mountain played great, tomorrow at Matthews a Huskies win,Not sure I can take a year of Rawlings without being medicated.

The UNH commentators were excellent, two thumbs up,nice job!,The fans were really into it up there,a loyal bunch, wait till Saturday Night though,The Doghouse will be rockin!

Pretty happy with the win... not our best game by a longshot and I think we will have a more consistent effort down at Matthews tomorrow. Northeastern is a team you cannot go to sleep on. They have enough offensive skill that they will make you pay if you do.

I expect Umile won't be at all happy with the first period and the lackluster start defensively (or by DeSmith). The second period was much better and in the 3rd we got the key break in the final minute.

Glad to see the PP clicking so early in the season and our record moves to 4-0-0. That's the key.. just win, baby. Ok, boys... get some good rest tonight and let's get another W tomorrow.

As a point of reference, Northeastern streams all games in all sports for free in both SD and HD. Video quality is at least as good as what I saw on FCS tonight. Just go to
http://gonu.com/index.aspx?path=mhockey&tab=0 and click the video link on the right side of the screen.

Re: #12 UNH vs. #15 Northeastern: 10/26-27

NU has a good fast physical team, with amazingly active sticks. Those sticks got them in trouble tonight but I was impressed with the all over the ice effort. I think UNH came out way over confident. There was some lazy defense in the fitst and 0 hitting from the cats. Give NU credit they took advantage and generated some fantastic scoring chances.

Tomorrow should be fun. See how UNH does on smaller ice, they have some big bodies but will they hit. I dont see how NU surprise UNH again, but I am not sure UNH will win anyway.

Re: #12 UNH vs. #15 Northeastern: 10/26-27

Three thoughts:

1. Rawlings is huge - covers half the net
2. Thought they pulled him early.
3. Good to see a goal above the circles, (tvr), but I love that we won it in a scrum.

Re: #12 UNH vs. #15 Northeastern: 10/26-27

Mountain played great, until he let the game winning goal in with less than a minute to play in the third period.:D

Northeastern is a good team, it was nice to see UNH win in come from behind fashion.
Dont be surprised to see Wyer get the start tonight.
