She is also covering her arse by voting for the Dem bill. (knowing it would fail)

And the Maine media will play along and report only that she voted for the Democratic plan without mentioning that it was doomed to fail or that she voted for the GOP option as well.

The GOP has been on the take since 1975.
The Dems have been on the take since 1995.
Took a peek out of curiosity. In 1975, Congress had 291 Democrats and 144 Republicans. In 1995, GOP had just picked up a net gain of 54 seats to take control of the House, 230-204.

Almost like when you're desparate, you'll open the book of black magic, even though you know you shouldn't.

Especially when you factor in how long the Dems controlled the House prior to 1995...

Pedantry Man here.

Only because I lived through this shit, let me Oldsplain (forgive me, DGF). Scuse me while I whip this out.

Yes, the Dems controlled the House for 54 years. But it's not how it looks. The Dems were divided between northern liberals and southern conservative Dixiecrats. Our party was itself two parties. We could never get anything done because the orcs would drag us down. Then Reagan came along and picked off the racists for the GOP, and the GOP became two parties for a shorter time.

The Dixiecrats were the legitimate heir to the Democrats who supported slavery. The liberals who colonized the Democratic party were actually the Outsiders. But now it's we who control the entire party. We as a force though really only got started with FDR. We are His children.

Yeah I know...but still. Congress was a Democratic Thing until the Conservative Revolution. (thanks in part to racists) The Dems of the 60s might not be the Dems of now but the Dems of the 80s sure are.

Moreso than the 60s, but we were still having defections through the 80s. There were still plenty of Thumper anti-choice Dems muddying the message.

LOL. He's so close to getting it, yet he couldn't be further from it.

Also, if those companies could offer it, they would have already. Can you imagine the uproar from UMR or BCBS or Aetna if they did?

Yeah it would sound like MAGA Ellison crying about how Netflix buying WB (instead of them) is an Antitrust Violation!

Reminds me of back in the day around here when The BoSox fans thought they were getting ARod and how jazzed they were, then when the Yanks got him it was a travesty as "The Rich Got Richer".

How does anyone vote for anyone so stupid?

Jesus Fucking Christ. The point of Government *IS* to subsidize for these things. The government is not a business, the government provides service. Yes, services are going to lose money. In the end, all the services combined cover the costs of those that are losing money. For fucks sake, why is a goddamned representative dumber than a sack of rocks?!?

Holy fucking shit, people wanted the country "run like a business" and are getting it in spades and they still can't figure this shit out.

Also, if we're running the government as a business, where's our universal healthcare provided by our "employer?"
