I didn’t see the part where he disowned the kid. Probably is a painful subject for a lot of people and don’t see where it adds much value. Pretty scummy for people(sounds like other republicans) to want it bring it up.
 
Manchin supports strengthening voter rights. He just doesn’t like Democrats’ “radical” version of it. He’s got Murkowski on board, but we all know there’s no fucking chance nine other GOP senators are.

Apparently he isn’t extreme enough for the Trump/MAGA crowd and they’re supporting someone else.

I feel so awful for that kid. I can only imagine how ****** up his life has been and based on a story I read after I posted last night he is facing serious jail time in California. Our country is such a disgrace.

The former girlfriend of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) has agreed to cooperate with investigators probing an alleged sex trafficking operation, CNN reported Friday.

The unidentified woman, a former Capitol Hill staffer, has known Gaetz since the summer of 2017, a period of time of particular interest to investigators, sources told CNN. Investigators consider her a “critical witness” who may be able to determine the relevance of records of hundreds of transactions they have obtained, including some allegedly involving payments for sex, the sources said.

Wait a second. If a child rapist runs for office we should sweep it under the rug, since it’s an uncomfortable subject? (Just so we’re clear on the proper course here)

That's a bit harsh. He was 18, yeah, she was 14, but still......Who didn't know similar couples when they were in high school?

Still, he's of the party that preaches abstinence, no premarital sex, the nuclear family, mothers and fathers raising kids together, you know, the whole 'family values' shtick.

That he doesn't live his own life the way he demands others do is totally fair game for attack.

At least he's not also a hypocrite about birth control.

Eh, even states with Romeo and Juliet exemptions to statutory rape tend to limit it to a 2-year difference. 4 years at that age is pervy. That could be a high school graduate with an 8th grader.

Yeah, we would not have been cool with that even back in my day.

Not at all unusual among Christian fundamentalists, though. Women are sperm targets to them, nothing else.

There were a bunch at my high school. It was really rural and we were pretty limited as far as dating options. It didn’t have anything to do with religion, ethics, or anything like that.

If he was a senior and she was a freshmen I think that is okay. If he was a senior or junior and she in eighth grade or he was a freshmen in college and she was a freshmen in high school that isn’t okay. On top of that I think an 18 year old and 14 year old going to high school together is less sketchy than a 25 year old dating a 18 year high school senior.

As someone whose wife teaches high school seniors she definitely wouldn’t consider 18 year old seniors adults. They’re still a long way from that. That whole concept is pretty outdated in my opinion.

If the guy got arrested or charged with a crime for me that would be fair game as far as being reported but I don’t think that happened here. I feel horrible for all the family and it’s so sad people in those situations don’t get more support. It sounds like all the trauma his son went through led to him assaulting other people which ruins more lives.
 
According to MTG I am an Irrational Jew because I don't appose mask mandates...cause Jews should oppose them like they did The Holocaust. That is her DEFENDING her earlier statement comparing mask mandates to The Holocaust.
