It is rare to see someone so narcissistic they torpedo their career this fast and this hard and for no reason other than their own vanity. I mean she had the opportunity to be part of a pretty awesome shift in tides...an Arizona that is trending Blue and with another Blue Senator to have her back. She is pretty shielded and not up for re-election for a while and instead of not making waves (or shifting farther Left cause that seems to be what her constituents want on many of these issues) she shifts Right and basically dares a very motivated voting block to vote her out.

Weird gambit...because the Right leaning people aren't voting for her so pissing off the Left is political suicide.

Yes, because if McConnell were still in charge, none of Biden's appointments get confirmed and we continue to bleed judges and run an executive with interim and acting heads.

Don't be frustrated with Manchin, he's the best we can get from WVa.

Be mad at the North Carolina candidate who couldn't help flirting with staffers, the Iowa Democratic party who continues to run people with a single digit charisma rating, and Maine voters like Drew who continue their love affair with Collins because she's oh so concerned.

Those are 3 seats that could've made Manchin and Sinema meaningless.

In a black box, even if Manchin sides 50% w/ Dems, he's way, way ahead of the GOP who would replace him.

WVa's other reps/sen Biden-vote Score:
McKinley (H) - 23.8%
Miller (H) - 10%
Mooney (H) - 9.5%
Capito (S) - 69% (Worth noting these are actual votes, not including the politics taking place behind the scenes)
Manchin (S) - 100%



Edit: WVa's CPVI is R+23. This is a unicorn. These just don't happen.

Liz Cheney is fellow members of her party eye going to vote to impeach but were afraid because of security concerns.

In a perfect world, the Dem playbook would not have to rely on a WV Senator. There are a number of bluer states where both seats should go blue before WV even remotely matters. If they don't want all of this to rely on Manchin, get the job done there. Until then, well, it is what it is, as much as that may suck.

Might I offer the suggestion that the powers that be at the DNC give the local folks a lot more autonomy. In Maine you had out of state money financing an out of state campaign for an out of state candidate. That never was going to be successful in a state like Maine no matter how much you spend. Honestly all the spending was a detriment to Gideon if anything.

There are a lot of people like me who love Collins even if they hate Trump and the modern GOP but she was still vulnerable if someone like Janet Mills, Angus King, or Jared Golden would have been on the ballot against her.

Ummm, your gal Suzie was getting plenty of out of state money too.

For some reason, that doesn't bother you half as much as a Democrat getting it. You know, when we have to do everything to stop the Republicans from power.
 
Yeah it isnt like it is a secret Collins was getting money from places other than Maine Drew...that argument is completely disingenuous.
