116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

My understanding was this was a long-term relationship between the three. For all I know it predated the third's working on the campaign.

If she recruited the third partner from within staff then, yes, that would be inappropriate behavior, though again the third person is not the one complaining. This is the husband being a chud and then the GOP rubbing their hands with glee and spreading revenge porn. That's the violation, here.

I sympathize with the woman and haven't seen any allegations of harassment but again page 1 of the employee handbook is don't bang people who are reporting to you. Especially in this day and age. I suspect if it was just one staffer from her campaign that Hill was having an affair with she would have stuck around. I do hope she pursues the revenge porn angle if she does in fact have a case.

Her statement is pretty disingenuous too (Deutsche posted it earlier).

She wrote, and I quote, "However, I know that as long as I am in Congress, we'll live fearful of what might come next and how much it will hurt. That's a feeling I know all too well. It's a feeling I decided to leave when I left my marriage, and one I will not tolerate being forced upon others."

She didn't leave her marriage. Her husband filed for divorce, accusing her of having an affair with a male staffer.

We have no idea who left who. He filed first. She may have been "gone" long before. From her husband's behavior it sounds like he is exactly the sort of dude a woman gets the f-ck away from as quickly as possible and without trying to make waves. At least he "only" circulated revenge porn and destroyed her career with the help of some right wing lackeys, he didn't flat out beat her up -- the traditional conservative male act of heroism.

That tells me more about you than anything else.

Was it mr Appalachian trail?

You answered too quickly. I was going to answer :p

It was Brett Kav...oh wait. No, it was Sniffles...no, wait. It was David Vitter...no, wait. It was Dennis Hast...no...

Patrick Meehan R-PA who denies there was ever sex involved but paid the victim anyway (using taxpayer money).

To find a case with actual sex, Tim Murphy R-PA (what do they put in the water?) who is anti-choice, paid for his mistress to have an abortion.

My favorite is Scott DesJarlais (R-TN). He admitted under oath to having six affairs, including two with patients. He ordered his ex-wife to have two abortions and tried to get his mistress/patient to have another. Oh yes, he's anti-choice as well. He is still serving in Congress.

If you're spending this much time thinking about me then you have way too much time on your hands.

You're the one who went out of your way to document your prejudice; I'm just reacting to it.

Be at peace, Rover. Outside of the occasional correction of one of your inanities I suspect nobody ever thinks about you.

Your constant posting about me betrays you Kep! Hill did the right thing, not because her lifestyle is wrong or because she did anything criminal but because this is a huge distraction that can't possibly not interfere with her trying to do her job. Something she seems to realize better than you do. Why don't we support the woman in her decision, instead of you adopting your usual misogynist ways and deciding you know better than she does.

You two bicker like Sam and Diane. Just **** already and get it over with.

Your smeared anti-Hillary people as "sexist." That showed how detached you are from the seriousness of misogyny -- you were just another guy smugly trying to hijack it.

Your act played well in 1992. Just remain in your coffin and try not to embarrass yourself in a world that has passed you by.

Did you ever notice that your venom is worse for female candidates that you don't agree with? For example, of the 20+ people running for the Dem nomination, who gets the most ire out of you, right down to insults about the candidate's physical appearance? Here's a hint, although there's plenty of loons running for the Dem nomination, you once again have singled out a female candidate for the most abuse. Juuuust like 2016. Methinks its time for some introspection on your part, Kep.

Or maybe, just maybe, with a sample size of 2, it’s just that Kepler reserves his venom for his candidate’s closet rival, who just have happened to be women in 2016 and 2020.

Uhhh.... what?

CNN correspondent Kyung Lah said today a GOP operative told her they have over 700 revenge porn pics of Katie Hill.

Imagine Republican men passing around these naked pictures and leering at them. Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

Anyone caught distributing those photos should have the book thrown at them.

Do the revenge porn laws, in this case I assume California, apply to "redistribution" by someone other than a person in the relationship?

The problem that Hill ran into is timing. If this were just a "normal" time politically, this might have been a good case for Democratic House members and others to rally around her and fight this revenge porn attack. Unfortunately for her, these are not "normal" political times. At this point the House leadership can't have any distractions from their mission at hand, especially a lurid ethics investigation of a sitting member.
