Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

Lots of bot like misspelling there in the comments...

Nobody should listen to that right wing troll idiot.
Pretty much, Rogan is one of the main conduits for far right garbage.
A couple of problems here: you’re not doing yourself any favors by plugging your ears and screaming NANANANA when someone explains something you’re afraid of. Go ahead and have a listen. Give it 30 minutes during your drive and see if you’re still afraid. And calling Rogan “right wing” is evidence of complete ignorance. As is saying (perhaps not you, but others) that Antifa is not taking orders from a central leadership or they’re just kids out having a good time, coincidentally at the same times & places and carrying weapons (whoops! Those silly kids!). Read and listen to the people who have first hand knowledge of the organization.

But yes “conduit” is accurate. Rogan will interview pretty much anyone at all, he even gave Alex Jones about 3 hours to try to justify his existence, same as he gave Tulsi Gabbard, which was pretty clearly valuable only as bare entertainment or a study in abnormal psychology. But still; it’s valuable to listen to opposing views and when Rogan does it, he’s doing a rare and valuable public service.
The conspiracy theory stuff (aliens & agencies) is just good entertainment. He doesn’t have a conservative agenda by any measure.

This is correct except it's totally incorrect. Antifa doesn't have a "central leadership." There are certainly organized and violent groups who call themselves Antifa-y, like the 1999 Seattle WTO protesters. But to tar the entire movement with them is the equivalent of saying Pro Life is a terrorist organization because there have been Pro Life ideologues who were terrorists.

Jesus, this is like the "Satanic cult" terror in the 70s. There's always somebody who buys it.

Dude, you literally have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to Antifa and everyone here has pointed this out. They don't have central leadership, they're a bunch of different groups with entirely different political beliefs spanning numerous different countries. They're mostly focused on self defense in terms of using violence though their entire purpose is to not let fascist/far right groups have a monopoly in using violence. If one of their members/groups attacks non-violent people then yeah, that's worth condemning. In the case of Ngo he's a far right provacateur who goes in and stirs up bees nests and then whines about it trying to play the victim (which is basically the right wing's shtick since forever) so the end result wasn't exactly shocking.

As for what I choose to listen to, I choose not to listen to a guy who gives an uncritical platform to white supremacists like Stefan Molyneaux and Gavin MacInness or alt-light morons like Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, and various other bigots. Sorry but there's no reason to listen to them anymore than I already have.

Not quite... Antifa is a proper noun name of a discrete group, so it’s a bit misleading to call it a “movement.” And even more misleading to suggest it’s a relatively harmless movement. They are the tiki-torch marchers of the left wing (though they are more anarchist than “liberal”... let’s say instead, of the “progressive” wing.)
The most ironic thing (if it wasn’t so dangerous it would be funny) is that they claim “Antifa” actually stands for Anti-Fascism so therefore they can’t be fascists. Like the “people’s republics” of the world.

Alright then. You carry on with that, good luck. I can see that you’ve gone so far as to peruse a paragraph from Vanity Fair so that’s progress, I guess?

It sounds like you've been listening to somebody from the alt-right who doesn't like groups that confront the alt-right on their bullsh-t.

Have some Knowledge Sauce.

Not everybody who believes in direct action believes in violence. They believe that when the brownshirts are in the streets it's a good idea to have people oppose them rather than just let them run around bashing in people's heads. Some Antifa people surround alt-righters who, as cowards, typically stop their nonsense. Sometimes there's a Nazi who foolishly wants to fight and Antifa at that point shocks them by actually fighting. The right is used to screaming their invective and pushing and punching people who are non-violent and don't punch back. They react like a scalded baby when they get punched back. The right is the glass-jawed bully who screams to mommy when he picks on the small kid and some other kid steps in.

But it is a broad category for a belief system whose central premise -- to push the fascists back into their caves -- I 100% endorse.

I submit to your knowledge of the facts.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

In what was actually the big news of yesterday.

https://thehill.com/blogs/floor-act...ection-security-bills-after-mueller-testimony

Senate Republicans blocked two election security bills and a cybersecurity measure on Wednesday in the wake of former special counsel Robert Mueller warning about meddling attempts during his public testimony before congressional lawmakers.

Democrats tried to get consent to pass two bills that would require campaigns to alert the FBI and Federal Election Commission about foreign offers of assistance, as well as a bill to let the Senate Sergeant at Arms offer voluntary cyber assistance for personal devices and accounts of senators and staff.

But Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) blocked each of the bills. She didn't give reason for her objections, or say if she was objecting on behalf of herself or the Senate GOP caucus. A spokesman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Under Senate rules, any one senator can ask for consent to pass a bill, but any one senator is able to object.

The floor drama comes after Mueller warned about election interference during his testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, saying Russia was laying the groundwork to interfere in the 2020 election "as we sit here."

People vote Republican. People vote for Trump. And, I wonder why. It has to be a complete lack of critical thinking skills.

Fear and deference to authority. They are too afraid to think through how they could make their lives better. They instinctively grovel in the dust when in the presence of something they view as an authority (a god, an evangelist, a boss, a dictator). They are an inert mass that defers to the first cynical manipulator who comes along and stokes their terror. Enter the Plutes.

Republicans are a natural resource like coal which the Plutes exploit to build their wealth without regard to the damage of the externalities. The difference is at least coal is good for something.

“BREAKING: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has just blocked two election security measures, arguing Democrats are trying to give themselves a "political benefit" even though former special counsel Robert Mueller and top intelligence officials are warning Russia plans to interfere in 2020.”

At least they admit they need help to win elections, I guess?

Awesome. Yesterday the esteemed white female from Mississippi objected. Today Mitch cock blocks the whole thing.

Yeah we can only win if rules are in place to do things fairly!!

You know the drill. We have to win by so much they can't cheat.

We have quite possibly won the last 7 elections on the merits, but we're playing against a stacked deck. We know that. If it takes 60%, get 60%.

You know you're on the wrong side of the battle when the fu**ing VOTING MACHINE COMPANIES are lobbying for paper ballots, paper trails, and more regulation/oversight.
