Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

Holy moly.

Minutes later, at a previously scheduled press conference, Gillibrand added insult to injury: she reiterated her call for Franken to resign while also trumpeting her sponsorship of a new bill that banned mandatory arbitration of sexual-harassment claims. She didn’t mention that Franken had originated the legislation—and had given it to Gillibrand to sponsor, out of concern that it might be imperilled by his scandal.

I didn’t realize how much of a snake she is. That’s horrible.

And it has truly paid off in her Presidential ambitions. /s

Be careful kids. There are not any “very fine people” in Portland, and to pretend it’s okay to allow Antifa to become established in the US, even if you think it’s just a lark, or that only our political enemies will be killed, would be a strategic mistake just as bad as campaigning on slavery reparations. Keep your head. Don’t self sabotage.
No matter what depths of stupidity Replublicans sink to, don’t assume the wisest course is to mirror them. Fanaticism is overrated.
Listen to Andy Ngo on Joe Rogan.

Antifa has been "established" here for a long time. And screw Andy Ngo I am sorry he got beat up (and that should never happen and those that did it should be jailed) but he is not some innocent bystander...he trolls these people online, on tv and in person and he spreads lies. He is basically Shaun King only he does his stuff for his own benefit not to protect Black people from racists and King almost never lies just exaggerates. He is a perfect guest for Rogan...who traffics in conspiracy theories (like Ngo) and speaks completely out of his *** about topics trying to sound smart.

Sorry but Antifa is not the boogeyman the Right believes it is any more than ANY group that protests is the boogeyman. Antifa isnt even really organized amongst the various groups. (unlike say the White Supremacists)

Nobody should listen to that right wing troll idiot.

Pretty much, Rogan is one of the main conduits for far right garbage.

Antifa isn't even really a thing. It's as nebulous as "anarchism." Insofar as there is any common thread it's opposition to Nazis. If you're not opposed to Nazis then f-ck you.

The people who call themselves Antifa and are violent are as-sholes and nobody should support them. But it's because they are violent, not because they are anti-fascism. And I suspect many if not most of the violent Antifers (?) are right wing agents provacateur.

This is the civil rights movement all over again. Remember "MLK is a commie"? SSDD.

As Handy said, white supremacists have a circle jerk where they coordinate their activities. They even have a national organization, it's called the Republican party. Antifa so far hasn't gotten to the nametags and HR stage yet. Whine to me again when it does.

Antifa is basically the "Occupy" movement only with stronger attitude. Faux spent years trying to turn them into a terrorist organization as well.

Some members of Antifa may be violent jerks, but they would be the same if they were members of the Rotary Club. Antifa itself is only out to be "Anti-Fascist".

The same with "Black Lives Matter."

The GOP knows its base. They immediately appeal to fear. They use it for everything: to excuse their racism, xenophobia, and callous disregard for the poor. And the suckers always fall for it.

The Dem Old Guard is used to cowering. AOC et al are calling it out -- they are no longer observing the political correctness of not calling Republicans racists and fascists. That is not just morally right, it's politically practical. The 25% of the country with their head in Hannity's posterior will never know themselves but the other 75% of the country know exactly what they are.

Conservatives wanted straight talk. They got it. We know what you are and we aren't afraid of you anymore because you are pathetic cowards.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

It's more like the other 75% know what they are, and somewhere between a third and half of that 75% don't care.

No. If you don't care whether somebody's a Nazi then you're a Nazi. So perhaps the number is higher than 25%.

That's the big difference between 2016 and 2020. In 2016 it was "you may not be a racist but racism isn't a deal breaker for you." With all that's happened in the ensuing years that grey area (as morally bankrupt as it was) no longer exists.

If you shrug when the cattle cars are rolling past you're an anti-Semite. The minimal human ethical standard in 2016 was not to vote R. In 2020 it's to vote D. Every single person in that party deserves to be thrown out of office for not taking a stand and defending basic human rights. And anybody who votes R in 2020 doesn't get forgiven, ever. This is the moment Germany blew. If we fail the rest of the world should render us incapable of causing trouble.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

They would do it for sure if a Dem was in the White House.

So.....now I'm confused. You want this deal blocked, right, because the Dems conceded too much...but now you're upset because the Freedom Caucus might block it...even though that gives you what you originally wanted....

Another perspective, from those flaming liberals at CNBC...

The entire budget and tax system is a dumpster fire. You expect me to be happy about any of it? Cause I'm not. The only good thing that happened this week is the morons aren't playing russian roulette with the debt ceiling.

Until now. Freedom caucus is composed of leader morons.

Dump may need a distraction this week.
