116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

Steve Scalise forgot during his interview this morning that Obama deferred to Mitch on going public with Russia and their meddling. Every time a Democrat tries to cross the aisle and do the right thing they get run over.

Stop it.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

Chris Christie making the "we can't pay for all this stuff" (talking about AOC) argument. So tired of it from the party that stole 23 trillion dollars from ordinary Americans. I guess someone forgot to tell him that Elizabeth Warren has a plant for that.

I guess he forgot about the deal Schumer made early in Trump's Presidency. You know, the compromise. Why is it that only the Democrats have to compromise on things? The cognitive dissonance on the right is sickening.

Just like deficits only matter when a democrat is in the White House, election security will only matter once they lose.

If I'm a sitting Dem senator, that's how I'd spin it: "Boy those elections of yours sure are nice, sure would be a shame if something were to happen where your party loses in 2020. So let's safeguard the election together."

Even Marco Rubio is a water carrier. Cult does not being to describe what the GOP has become.

The "Some Were Neighbors" exhibit at the Holocaust Museum was incredibly powerful. It really brought home how the machines of death depended on just plain folks with no animus towards Jews who were "sensible" and didn't "stick their neck out."

The banality of evil. We see it everyday in this country. Don't think for a minute it would stop if and when they actually start using gas chambers. Vast numbers of people are cowards and ideology desensitizes people to suffering and gives them excuses. The usual suspects will just say we're all "overreacting." And don't forget "we're all born to die anyway." That is how it always goes.

It isn't evil that kills millions. Evil has the idea but it's the mediocrites of the soul, the nation of shopkeepers, that actually does the murders. And the teevee will continue to dole out entertainment and Amazon will deliver goods on one day Prime, and the majority of people will ignore the genocide and continue to be good consumers.

People defend the killing on innocent Muslims all the friggin time. Let's not also forget the people who excuse cops who kill Black's like they are mosquitos.

Yeah, but I'm not talking about those psychos. I'm talking about Average Joe who thinks kids in cages is "unfortunate but we have to do something about this tide of illegals." People who aren't at all bigoted but have no problem putting an abstract principle ahead of the lives of children.

There's a great book called "Debt: the First 5000 Years" where the author talks about how the IMF essentially foreclosed on a third world country and cost them the mosquito netting that was savings thousands of kids' lives a year, and a liberal economist he was talking to about it at a conference saying, "Well, yes, but after all, we must pay our debts." To which he thought, "why?" When that is the result, then why? Yes, ideally we honor contracts, but when honoring the letter of the contract will kill thousands then no, f-ck the contract. It's only money. Money is not as important as life; that's why we don't have debtors prisons anymore.

And if "protecting the border" means caging tens of thousands of children and murdering many of them then, no, f-ck the border. F-ck sovereignty, if that's what it means. Either come up with a better way or your principle loses. Life > ideas, no matter how blubbery we get about those ideas. At the end of the day they are electro-chemical impulses in our heads, they aren't human beings. Our ideas are here to serve us, not the other way around.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

He was one of the guys who ran against Trump. He was supposed to be shining star. Instead he's just another sycophant. It's amazing how the GOP has turned out.

They all folded long before now. God, remember Romney licking up Dump's feces at that dinner while Dump continued to squeeze it out on him?

The GOP was always the party of con men, but since Dump it has become even more the party of cowards.

How could I forget? It's easily the best thing I'll remember about the Dump Presidency.

That was expert-level trolling, you have to admit.

The thing I remember most about that is the weird glow in the background. Like there's a birthday cake just out of frame and it's being shot with a 1970s camcorder.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

It's the same glow, and facial reactions, as when Ariel signs her voice away to Usula.
