115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Christ on a cracker, Sabato just updated the AL Senate seat to...

...

...

...

leans D.

Try not to breath too heavily yet. When it comes to 'Bama pols, unless it comes out that Moore liked little boys as well, I'm not convinced this election is over.

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Roy Moore just tweeted "Bring It On" to Mitch McConnell, which is either a challenge or the movie he's currently masturbating to.

Nobody said it was over. "Leans" means just that. All Moore should need to do is drop the usual "Christian De Hurr Derp" on the D's to win.

But to lean, this late, is still something else.

In a normal environment his opponent could have pics of him nailing 2nd graders stacked like cordwood and he'd still be leading in AL by 20.

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Moore should obviously lose and if the vote were today, he just might.

The problem is that there are several weeks for our "Christian" friends in Alabama to remember who they are and I believe that they will.

I can see the situation where what they say in public and what they do in the booth being two very different things.

Unless of course more and more allegations continue to surface.

Especially with guys like Trump and Moore. We certainly learned this lesson in November.

edit: Liked this comment in Matt Bai's recent column on Moore: Whenever someone runs for office as the arbiter of private morality, it’s worth asking yourself what he or she might be running from.

There's also enough time for some grifter to make a claim, trying to cash in. Her exposure would then allow GOP voters to believe all the women were lying.

People will move their personal moral goalposts like they were on wheels and tied to a jetpack when it's politically convenient. This is by no means a safe flip.

On the other hand, video technology is old, and somebody somewhere may be at this moment uploading a stream of Moore in his thirties macking on some 15-year old candy striper. That happens and even Old Testament Cletus will sit this one out.

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Heard this morning Ron Johnson is against the tax bill? What?

He thinks the taxes are too high. He wants to tax small business profits at the new low corporate rate rather than passing through to the owners' as personal income.

Fire-breathing Democratic-Socialist I agree with him on this: we should be helping small businesses. Though obviously the rates on the richest Americans need to be driven through the roof and the penalties for hiding wealth offshore should include drawing and quartering.

But if this kills it, god bless him.

Apparently one issue for him is the difference in treatment between large corporations and smaller, pass-through entities, such as sole proprietorships, single-owner LLCs, etc. Lot of votes there for him.

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

What is the threshold for individual/joint filers where there will be a tax increase.

I was watching something last night and it seemed that anyone over $70k would see an increase.

That can't be true...

Anyone know what it is?

Oh it's true. It's Damm true.

That should be political suicide.

A lot of their voters would see that increase. A LOT.

Hard to understand why they would go for this. Especially any who are even remotely vulnerable.

Operative term, should.

The GOP is banking on having demonized news reporters -- and, apparently, math -- sufficiently for their captives to think the sound of the approaching whirring blades in the abattoir is fake news.

Conservatives get the vapors that liberals have such a low estimate of their intellect, but that's nothing compared to how dumb the Republican party thinks they are.

Just thinking about where $70k would land on a bell curve of voters...

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Shocking, the GOP is exploring how it might subvert democracy in the Alabama senate race.

I guess they have been emboldened after successfully stealing a SCOTUS seat.

Everything I've read and hear from the various Beltway Brahmin is this would be a bridge too far. Them thar good ol boys in AL don't cotton to know DC elitist telling them what to do.

Which, in this case... good instinct.
