Here's my favorite Roy Moore quote.

The free exercise clause of the constitution does not apply to any religion but Christianity. [because none of the other religions are legitimate religions.].
Roy Moore

This is a good philosophy for a Judge or a Senator in the United States who has to upheld the Constitution.

Re: 115th Congress. In Bridge, Can Hearts be Trumped? In Spades!

Regarding Trump and Moore, I think back to a lesson I learned watching college hockey....

Back in '98, the national championship was here in Boston between Michigan and BC. Sorta like trying to decide who you want to win the Iran-Iraq War, but we put that aside and said "Go Michigan" and tried not to gag. Anyway, after the victory we're partying at the Barkan (sp?) Bash in the event hotel, and run into a bunch of Michigan fans. Now Michigan fans pride themselves on being big A ssholes. But, they said to us "wow, these BC fans are bunch of f$%^&*& A@#holes." When even Michigan fans are put off by the behavior of your school's fan base, you've got a problem! :D

Think of Trump as Michigan and Moore as Boston College. Even Chump as nutty and controversial as he is will be confiding to his peeps, "Wow, this Moore guy is fuking nuts".

This guy is Joe's dream candidate. A true believer bible thumper that is going to stick it to the political establishment in Washington!!!

To the contrary, it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't consider Catholics to be Christians. You know how they are about "papists" in the Deep South...

From Elizabeth Warren's Facebook:

Does America really not understand how the Republican Party does not give a **** about anyone but themselves? Seriously.

She is uppity and might have lied once on an application so...

Nice graphical representation of the GOP post-2016 implosion. Here's hoping it only amplifies.

The pinch point is telling. I'd be curious to see what special elections looked like in 2006

Re: 115th Congress. In Bridge, Can Hearts be Trumped? In Spades!

All politics is local.

We'll see, but if a D+25 swing get distributed across those localities, that is going to be a classic midterm wave. Remember the stinger in the tail of gerrymandering: it trades pulling in a lot of +35s to +20s to create a lot more +20s out of +5s. It creates a mammoth cliff.
If the majority stays on the right side of it they save a lot of seats they ought to have lost -- the 2016 and 2018 GOP results. But if they reach the cliff there is an abysmal and sudden drop.

We may wind up with a 5-point swing either way separating the GOP House from losing 20 seats and losing 80 seats.

They should add a second bar to each race showing the previous race results as well. It would be far more telling.

2006. Similar circumstances. Idiots in charge of the GOP Congress who stick around while their ground troops get picked off.

Maybe somebody ought to fire the generals.

Welp, that is how democracy was designed to work. So far the members have subverted it by choosing their voters rather than the other way around. But you can only take that so far. You can hold a majority despite losing say 53/47. But not 56/44. And when it goes, it really goes.

Re: 115th Congress. In Bridge, Can Hearts be Trumped? In Spades!

Not gonna matter, right?

Nope. Doesn't matter a bit. Big report by Ari Melber tonight on how Paul Ryan is throwing Turtle Boy under the bus. Appears we have The House and Trump vs. The Senate set up.

Here's another goodie.

Fast forward to President Trump’s Washington, where the budget deficit for this fiscal year is expected to near $700 billion and the federal debt has topped $20 trillion.

A new tax cut is emerging to rival those of the Bush years, and the deficit hawks have hardly peeped.

“It’s a great talking point when you have an administration that’s Democrat-led,” said Representative Mark Walker, Republican of North Carolina and the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, a group of about 150 conservative House members. “It’s a little different now that Republicans have both houses and the administration.”

If Ryan is going to declare war on Turtle Boy then it is all but a guarantee that nothing gets done especially tax reform.

Re: 115th Congress. In Bridge, Can Hearts be Trumped? In Spades!

We can hope.

Turtle Boy is barely holding his caucus together as is and the worst kept secret in DC was he wasnt happy when Ryan and the House went ahead with their cruddy version of Health Care "Reform". Pardon the pun but Turtle Boy aint sticking his neck out for Trump and Ryan with the midterms next year. Senators arent going to go home for the break trying to defend tax cuts either...especially if they live in Texas or Florida. Those Tax Cuts will basically kill the relief effort. (or at least that will be the story)

Ryan thinks he is bullet proof, but the problem is Eric Canter proved no one is safe when the Deplorables are ticked off.

Cantor lost because the nutbars were convinced he wasn't nuts enough. Ryan allying with Trump will protect him as the fire ants consume McConnell and what's left of the RNC.
